Goalkeepers to Watch in Washington State: High School 4A

<p>We are starting week 3 for HS girls soccer in Washington State and there have been some fantastic matches and GK performances to kick off the season. The position of goalkeeper is not for the faint of heart. It takes a special player that has both the athletic ability and emotional intelligence to overcome highly stressful situations. They also bear the weight of the team on their shoulders and sometimes are unfairly blamed for outcomes of close games. That is a lot of pressure but the reward of making that game changing save, logging that clean sheet and being the hero in a penalty shootout, makes all the blood, sweat and tears worth it!</p>   <p>Here are 4 goalkeepers from the High School girls 4A classification to keep your eyes on in the first half of the season:</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Devon possesses all the qualities that you look for in an elite goalkeeper. Height, quickness and tenacity are some of the characteristics that pop out when watching her play. Bankers has fantastic vision and timing with high balls and controls the box well on set pieces. Her ability to win 1v1 situations consistently sets her apart from her peers. She has been called upon in big games and made big saves to secure pivotal victories in playoff scenarios. This sophomore GK is one to watch this HS season as well as the upcoming ECNL season. She has a crispness to her holds and quickness to her ball release. Simone can play big when needed and moves very well throughout the box. Her ability to make top level saves at the HS and Club level is showcased at almost every game. Tylers range is vast. She has no problem getting low quickly and has the height to make saves at the top corners. When you combine this with a powerful leg, you have a GK with all the tools to make a team better. Watch for big things from Tyler this season with Stadium HS and Seattle Reign Academy.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">This freshman GK is part of a talented back line that is very stingy when it comes to goals allowed. Sydney has good vision of the pitch and manages her box well. Her GAA is top 10 among HS goalkeepers in Washington State to date. It is very impressive that a freshman can go toe to toe with her older peers and make those upperclassman saves. Look for Winters to make an impact for years to come in the Raven Teal & Blue.</p>    <p></p>
