Mackenzie has a high soccer IQ, allowing her to anticipate plays and do a lot of her defensive work before the ball has been played near her. At 5' 9", she has good size, which, combined with her strong work rate, helps in the air on set pieces and with balls played over the top. Vanags has also shown the pace to keep up with attackers when a through ball is played in near her. The tools that really set her apart are how composed she is with the ball at her feet and her versatility. Mackenzie is a very accurate passer at every level, allowing her team to get forward beyond the initial press of the opposition. She can play anywhere along the back line and be very effective. Vanags' accolades have started piling up, adding 2nd Team All-Metro Richmond, and 2nd Team All Mid-Atlantic ECNL '08 in the past few months.

After having to spend the last few months out of action due to an inury, [player_tooltip player_id='172624' first='London' last='Serafim'] is back and ready to continue to show what makes her one of the top attackers in the Mid-Atlantic class of '26, maybe even THE top attacker. Last we saw London playing, she was scoring and assisting goals at a torrid pace for her Richmond United squad. London's explosive first step, pace, and determination/fearlessness make her a handful for opposing defenses. All of the futsal skills show in her quick feet and ball control in traffic. Her athleticism also makes her a threat in the air. She has a great understanding of time and space, allowing her to pick apart defenses with passes as well. Serafim has made 1st Team All Mid-Atlantic ECNL two years in a row.

Victoria "Tori" Gauch is very tough to get the ball off of. She uses her physicality to hold off defenders, and can dribble by them with power. Gauch is very good at creating a little bit of space to set up defenders for quick moves, opening herself up to unleash shots on frame. Tori also has a great understanding of the flow of the game. She intelligently uses the space she creates to make sure she is scanning the field, getting the ball to the right place for her team. She is usually deployed as a CF, but often drops into the midfield to win the ball or to play a hold up role. Tori made 2nd Team All Metro Richmond her sophomore year.

Monique McEnhimer is definitely one of the best athletes on the Richmond soccer scene. Speed, quickness, lateral movement, shot power, all of it is at a high level. She has become lethal when defenders are in front of her because of her change of pace and the work she has put in on her 1v1 moves. Defenders seem to have no choice but to continue backpedaling as she attacks them in third gear, flys past them in 5th, or drops into 1st gear to set them up for a move or to open space for a pass. The shooting has also gone to the next level as she is able to pick out her spots, with power. McEnhimer is definitely one I can see us writing about again in a few months, with a higher spot in these rankings. Monique also made 2nd Team All Metro Richmond as a sophomore.

Just a side note while we are here. If you did not notice above, Deep Run HS had three 2nd Team All Metro Richmond players that were just sophomores - Gauch, McEnhimer, and Vanags. Those three, along with [player_tooltip player_id='171236' first='Audrey' last='Simpkins'] who made it as a Junior, will presumably be back in the Spring. See you at Deep Run HS! Back to the rankings - we also have some newcomers to the WatchList.

[player_tooltip player_id='219724' first='Ava' last='Mojaddidi'], from the Richmond Kickers ECNL-RL squad is also a Developmental Player for Richmond United, and attends Clover Hill high school. Ava is a tidy midfielder with good quickness. She makes accurate passes and has a great sense of when to try and break lines with the dribble versus getting rid of the ball quickly. Ava "Mojo" was selected as All ECNL-RL Virginia.

[player_tooltip player_id='222445' first='Alyssa' last='Pulliam'] was once a "hidden gem" in a piece I wrote a while back. Aly has now been selected as All ECNL-RL Virginia and as a DP for Richmond United. Not hidden anymore, I guess. She is an attacking mid with great vision, always looking to unlock the defense with the final pass in the attacking third of the field. Pulliam is not shy about taking shots and scoring from outside of the box if given space. She has a strong work rate when her squad needs to win the ball back. Her improved awareness when receiving the ball allows her to make the right decision quickly, and to maintain possession for her team.

[player_tooltip player_id='170045' first='Sophia' last='Calisto'] is a midfielder for the Richmond Strikers ECNL RL team and Deep Run HS. A box to box mid, Calisto works as hard going forward as defending. She may be a bit undersized, but makes up for it with a tremendous work rate, always closing down on the ball when the opposing midfield receives it (or tries to). On the attacking side, she is a precise passer that keeps the ball moving to the open player and continues the teams momentum in the attack. Very rarely loses the ball. I thought she had a really good moment last Spring in a regular season game against Cosby that I attended. Best player in a midfield full of talent that night, for me.

Bridget is a tenacious attacker that has been taking off over the last year and a half or so. Very hard working and gritty, she gets to almost every 50/50 ball near her. Very confident on the ball, she uses her speed and long strides to get past defenders. She has very good awareness in the attacking area, reading when to find the ball to beat defenders and shoot/cross, as well as when to make runs off of the ST on her team, and finish in the box. Bridget usually plays on the wing but has an impressive knack for scoring goals like a poacher striker. After the Spring HS season, Martin earned an All Metro Richmond Honorable Mention.
