Monique McEnhimer is definitely one of the best athletes on the Richmond soccer scene. Speed, quickness, lateral movement, shot power, all of it is at a high level. She has become lethal when defenders are in front of her because of her change of pace and the work she has put in on her 1v1 moves. Defenders seem to have no choice but to continue backpedaling as she attacks them in third gear, flys past them in 5th, or drops into 1st gear to set them up for a move or to open space for a pass. The shooting has also gone to the next level as she is able to pick out her spots, with power. McEnhimer is definitely one I can see us writing about again in a few months, with a higher spot in these rankings. Monique also made 2nd Team All Metro Richmond as a sophomore.

McEnhimer had a very good start to the event, scoring two goals in Richmond United’s 4-3 victory over the Colorado Rapids. The team’s most advanced player, she was the target for most of Richmond’s offensive plays and used her mobility to be a constant threat to their opponents. McEnhimer was good at making runs with and without the ball, finding ways to explore the space available. The forward used both feet well to dribble and finish and was very calm in front of the goal, waiting for the right moment to shoot.
