Key Players in the 2028 Prep Soccer PA Rankings

Horn is a box-to-box midfielder who has a nose for the goal in the attack. She's a high energy player who is electric to watch. She is buzzing about the field and highly effective as a 1v1 player. She wins duels and hounds the opposition with her effort. It's impressive how often she is earning touches with just effort plays. Horn makes good decisions on the ball and sees clever passing angles in the final third. She is a playmaker in that role. She could improve on her first touch to prepare for the next level. She is a player to watch from the 09 age group as she continues to influence the game at the highest levels.      Helwig is a high activity forward for FC Delco 09. She is a willing runner, which helps in the press, but also helps in breaking the rhythm of the opposition as she tracks back and cuts off passing lanes. Helwig is good on the ball - a linking piece for her side. She can play with her back to the goal. She is improving as a runner off the ball - the timing and sharpness of her runs to create an advantage with her body positioning will elevate her game. There is plenty of promise here for a playmaker from the center of the field.      Hanson is a defensive midfielder on the Penn Fusion 2010 ECNL team. She is a dominant presence in the center of the field. A fluid athlete who is fearless in the duel and does well in disrupting the play from the opposition. She is confident on the ball and plays with her head up. She had some standout moments during the ECNL playoffs when she looked unstoppable. She also had some learning moments. Her decision-making on the ball can improve. She had some trouble with getting rid of the ball too late - the timing of her passes was inconsistent. There is plenty of reason to believe that aspect of her game will improve as she has shown the capability to adjust, adapt, and overcome. She has been a key player on the top team in the state in one of the most vital positions.     Burke is an outside back on the FC Delco 09 ECNL team. She plays right back, but can hit a good shot, pass, and cross with her left. She has attacking qualities that make her a stand out for the position. She is looking for her shot from outside of the box and is a good finisher from range. Her 1v1 defending is solid, but could improve in technique to prepare her for the next level. Her tactical positioning is very good and she is smart about her play when forced as the last line of defense. Burke is an impactful player on both sides of the field from her outside back spot.      Reader is a midfielder on the Penn Fusion 2010 ECNL team. She has quick feet and a sharp soccer mind. She is a box-to-box midfielder - she plays on the right side and is often so far wide she almost looks like a right midfielder. She excels at working out of tight spaces with combination play and movement off the ball. She could improve on her defensive instincts. She has the traits of a player who is going to play this game for a long time. She rarely relies on physical advantages to solve challenges, but rather thinks through her options. She is clever in her play and showed some nifty moments during the ECNL playoffs last season. Reader is going to continue to shine as the speed of play increases.      Barnes is a midfielder on the Penn Fusion 2010 ECNL team. She is an attacking midfielder or a box-to-box midfielder. She's had a great start to her high school career. She is a talented finisher and excellent ball striker. Barnes is a skillful player who can make an impact at the highest level of the club game. She needs to improve on checking her shoulder before receiving the ball. She had too many moments of turning blindly into defenders during the ECNL postseason events. She navigated around a few of those situations thanks to her terrific skill, but that will not so easy in the future. Barnes' has the technique to shine in this game for a long time. Her passing is among the best in this class and will make her an asset for any team she is on.     Rife is a winger on the Penn Fusion 2010 ECNL team. There is a toughness and strength to her game that offers a different dynamic from the Fusion squad that can often try to pass around the opposition, but Rife is willing to run through the competition. She is competitive, fearless, and effective. She has the skill to back up her approach too. When she gets the ball in the final third, she is remarkably sharp in her movement and decision-making. I believe she takes the corner kicks for her club team, which shows her excellent technique in ball striking. Rife is an asset for her side with her quality in the attack.      Martin is a center back on the Penn Fusion 2010 ECNL team. She is right footed. She stood out from game film for her defensive instincts. She is very good as an on ball defender - both when the forward has the back to the goal and when going face-to-face. Martin has the ability to read the body language and anticipate the next move. She uses her long legs to poke the ball away from the defender well. She is poised on the ball and does well with getting it off her feet quickly. She doesn't boot the ball long needlessly. She weighs options and keeps possession for her side. Martin has been an outstanding defender for Fusion.      McNeely is a winger on the Philadelphia Ukrainians 09 ECNL team. She can play on either side of the attacking trio. She hits a good cross with either foot. She offers the pace to get behind the defense and the skill to take on outside backs in 1v1 situations. McNeely could improve as a finisher. She creates chances and gets to the right spot. She should be one to watch in the ECNL this season.       Cepko is a new addition to the Century United team, I believe. She plays for the successful BVB Pittsburgh program last season. A fearless goalkeeper, Cepko should be an immediate standout at the GA level. She has good hands and athleticism. She shows excellent technique in shot-stopping ability.      Szykowny is an outside back on the Beadling 2009 GA team. She had a stellar season at the club love last year. Her play at the high school level has been impressive too. She is on the same high school team as one of the top 2025s in the state, [player_tooltip player_id='147203' first='Lilly' last='Bane'], which should give her some insight into what it takes to reach that level. She's shown she can compete with the best of the best in her role so there is every reason to believe she will be a top defender in this class.      [player_tooltip player_id='268440' first='Ellie' last='Lebe'] is a winger on the Century United GA team. She plays on the left wing. She is one of the top left footed players in this class. She can finish with her right foot as well - and she does cut inside when the opportunity presents itself. She is an excellent finisher with either foot. She's a skillful dribbler and a tough mark in 1v1 situations.      Kim is a midfielder on the Century United GA team. She is a defensive midfielder. She plays with a ton of confidence. She is good at planning out her next pass before receiving the ball. She has nifty footwork. I think that might go overlooked in her game, because she isn't typically flashy. However, there is a clever brilliance in how she gets away from defenders without wasting touches. Kim is an excellent passer with either foot. She was impressive at the GA level last season and should be on the radar for all scouts during this season.      [player_tooltip player_id='268449' first='Mia' last='McCarthy'] is a midfielder on the Beadling SC 2010 GA team. She is also on the West Alleghany Varsity team. She's earned a significant role with that team. She is a vital player in the midfield thanks to her positioning to protect the back four and her willingness to put in a tackle in the center of the field. McCarthy seems a bit passive in possession though. She's a passenger at times for her school team. She's got great vision and makes key passes regularly. I think she'll grow into the confidence to drive that midfield for the next four years as she proves to be a top midfielder in the state.      Yurt is a forward on the Century United 2010 GA team. She can also may in the midfield. Yurt offers a good physical presence for the role. She can play with a defender on her back and hold onto possession of the ball. She makes good decisions on the ball and has been an integral part of the system of play for her team. Yurt is a good finisher and takes advantage of chances. She's a talent to keep note of from this class.
