ECNL Girls Phoenix: Texas Forwards to Watch

<p>The ECNL Girls League is hosting its fourth national event of the season this weekend in Phoenix, Arizona, with teams from all over the country set to play from Friday to Sunday.</p>   <p>Having the Reach 11 Sports Complex as the venue, 178 teams in the U16, U17 and U19 age groups will come from the entire country to play three matches each and showcase their skills against some of the top talent in the country.</p>   <p>Texas will send 21 teams to the event, with sides from Albion Hurricanes FC, Classics Elite, Dallas Texans, DKSC, FC Dallas, Solar SC, Sting Dallas Black and Sting Dallas Royal representing the Lone Star State in Arizona.</p>   <p>As we preview the event, we'll take a look at some promising prospects who will be on the field. In the final piece of our previews, it's time we point out some forwards worth your attention:</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Lario is part of the DKSC 09 team that is scheduled to face Placer United, Michigan Hawks Magic and Sporting California USA in Phoenix. She's a key piece in their offensive system thanks to her ability to create and finish chances at a high level. She's frequently used on the right, from where she can be at times unstoppable with her runs, beating defenders with her pace and her ability to change directions. Lario is also very good at closing into the penalty box when plays develop on the opposite side, getting into good spots to score. She can also be used more centrally, preferably underneath a more physical striker, where she thrives with her runs and combination plays.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Briscoe's pace and playmaking will be huge for Classics Elite 08 when they face LA Breakers FC, Santa Rosa United and Arizona Arsenal. An extremely technical and creative winger, she's a constant threat to opposing backlines with her quality on the ball and unpredictability. Briscoe is at her best when used out wide, where she can identify vulnerable spots and use her pace to be a dangerous weapon in quick transition plays or a target to long passes. She also has the quality to be more centrally, as a playmaker, and find teammates in good spots with her excellent vision. Briscoe is also very efficient when putting pressure on opposing defenders, quickly closing down on them and taking their space.</p>      <p class="text-gray-700">Kwon will be in action with Sting Dallas Royal in Phoenix - their opponents will be Alabama FC, Concorde Fire - Premier and Concorde Fire Platinum. She's fairly versatile and can play anywhere in the attack, but is probably at her best when used more centrally, where her ability to finish from distance becomes more of a factor. Kwon also works well with her back to the goal and helps facilitate combination plays through the middle with quick, one-time passes. Another of her qualities is her ability to stay alert and always be ready to react and go for the ball when there's a heavy first touch or an inaccurate pass around her.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oW9yC3rABrk </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">Harris is one of the main offensive weapons of the FC Dallas 07 team that is set to be tested against Slammers FC HB Koge, Jacksonville FC and Legends FC this weekend in Arizona. Most commonly used as a left winger, she's very active offensively and is always involved in the team's chance-creation. Harris is very skilled on the ball and very direct, having the confidence to go at defenders and the quality to send dangerous crosses into the penalty box. She's also excellent at coming into the penalty box to finish chances and has a knack for coming up big in key moments and delivering a game-winning goal or assist.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMZyJox5LEc </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">Spencer and her Albion Hurricanes FC 07 teammates will have Utah Royals FC-AZ, Rockford Raptors and Legends FC San Diego. The forward is a new face with the team, having moved from HTX this season, and is taking their offense to another level with her dynamic play. Her ability to dribble the ball using her physical and technical tools causes all sorts of problems for opposing defenders, who have a hard time trying to stop her. Spencer can play out wide or more centrally and is lethal in 1v1 situations, making quick moves to beat defenders off the dribble.
