NCHS Girl's Preseason Best Performers

The NC Girl's high school preseason ends after 3 weeks of hundreds of matches. With so much to cover, many players inevitably showcased their talents. However, there is a select group of players who performed far better than the rest. Narrowing it down to only a list of seven is a hard task, but these were the best in my opinion.    Taryn is a striker who impressed in the preseason matches with her determination and output. She plays in a front two where she goes wherever she can find space. If she needs to drift wide or drop back to do so, she will with no problem. When she finds space to run in behind, she'll pounce on the opportunity. Her composure to finish is also remarkable, finding the back of the net from difficult angles. When she needs to win the ball back, she'll chase it down relentlessly, regardless of what minute of the match it is.     Taylor is a fantastic striker who impresses in every match she plays. She tends to stay central, whether it be staying forward or dropping deep to offer support. On the ball, she's phenomenal, skipping past defenders easily. Her shifty footwork gets her out of tight situations seamlessly. Combined with her speed, especially her acceleration, she is an unstoppable force for defenders. Once she beats the defenders, she asserts herself against the goalkeeper. She scores goals for fun and makes it look easy. One of the most impressive things in her game is how she mentally beats the keeper.     Katherine is another impressive striker with a fantastic amount of goals scored in just preseason. She's quick to react when the ball comes near her, whether her team has possession or not. When her team has possession, she moves quickly with the ball to create space to run into. When her team is not in possession, she presses heavy touches, often leading to goal scoring chances given her position. On the ball, she is agile and a fantastic dribbler. Her change of directions are deadly and effective, leaving defenders in the dust with simplicity. When she has the chance to score, she takes it greatly showing no fear in putting the ball away. Her penalties are also great, not being phased at all.     Ramsey is a tidy and organizing midfielder who makes her talented team click wonderfully. She spends most of her matches playing in the second-third of the pitch. This part of the pitch is completely controlled by her both on and off the ball. Her short passes help to build plays quickly either down the middle or out wide. Her long passes constantly finds teammates in the final third, creating constant danger. When she leaves her zone of the pitch, she makes sure to make it count. She'll either bag a goal contribution on one end, or recover possession on the other.     Riley is a talented and promising goalkeeper who helps her team perform at a high level. Confident and intelligent, she makes the box entirely hers. She'll rush out her box to cut out danger without appearing too worried. Her ability to come rushing out is also applied for danger in the box. She comes out for crosses, claiming them constantly and helping her team regain possession from deep. When her defenders need to offload pressure, she offers a helping hand in booting the ball forward. If she's under pressure, she remains calm and finds a way out. Her kicks are also impressive, with the weakest ones falling just before midfield. Some are so powerful that they reach the final third, generating danger from her own end.
