Week #3 ECNL G11 – Emerging talent from Class of 2029

[program_tooltip program_id='283434' first='Pleasanton' last='Rage'] 11G took on the [program_tooltip program_id='283641' first='De' last='Anza Force'] 11G in the Spring 2025 Season ECNL (Elite Clubs National League). It was mainly slightly overcast for the majority of the match, but there were pockets of direct sunlight making it seem hotter than it was.&nbsp; The De Anza College Soccer Field and Stadium played host to the three ECNL matches I was about to cover.&nbsp; It is always great to identify emerging talent as these players might be starters in the next high school season or future National Team call-ups.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:embed {"url":"https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1906009632893804667","type":"rich","providerNameSlug":"twitter","responsive":true} --> <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1906009632893804667 </div></figure> <!-- /wp:embed --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The standouts for [program_tooltip program_id='283641' first='De' last='Anza Force'] were [player_tooltip player_id='288415' first='Layla' last='Pine'], Isabella Gagni, Sadie Goldberg, Aniya Rosario, and Tali Levitas.&nbsp; Gagni scored goal #1 off of a Pine assist.&nbsp; The ball was knocked around by both sides, before Layla applied high pressure and got the win back. She then got by her defender and sent a nearly perfect cross into the middle.&nbsp; Isabella was positioned perfectly to receive and make the finish in the penalty area.&nbsp; The half-time score was 1-0 Force.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><a href="https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1906025370987745621">https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1906025370987745621</a></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Pine got the second goal for Force in the opening 5 minutes of the second half.&nbsp; Force got a win-back just past their half and Maya Barajas made a run down the middle before passing it off to a cutting player who slipped it between the dense to Pine.&nbsp; A defender may have clipped the ball when Pine made her run to the box, but this goal should definitely be credited to Layla.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><a href="https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1906058801641656607">https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1906058801641656607</a></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Goals #3 and #5 were scored by Sadie Goldberg.&nbsp; Goldberg got her first goal of the match from a Barajas assist as she made a pass to Goldberg's right side.&nbsp; Sadie then pulled the ball to her left before striking it from the edge of the 18 and catching the goalkeeper off her line.&nbsp; It was one of the nicest assists and finishes I've seen in the past 3 weeks of ECNL play.&nbsp; Her second goal was off of a cross from the right side.&nbsp; Goldberg made a perfect run and made a perfect header as the goalkeeper was closing in.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><a href="https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1906120536327127062">https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1906120536327127062</a></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><a href="https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1906531744708489527">https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1906531744708489527</a></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Although I wasn't able to capture Aniya Rosario's goal (Goal #4), she made an awesome assist by turning on the afterburners to get past her defender on the left side before angling in to make a pass across the penalty box to Isabella Gagni, who got Force's 6th and final goal.&nbsp; Gagni had to readjust by moving back a step or two before she got past the goalkeeper, who almost made a stop.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><a href="https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1906920413986517296">https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/1906920413986517296</a></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Standouts for Rage were [player_tooltip player_id='296059' first='Leena' last='Khan'] and Hannah Chang.&nbsp; Leena played primarily as a midfielder, and she made some quick changes in directions, zipped up and down the sidelines, and made strong runs at the goal.&nbsp; Chang provided high pressure and made diagonal runs to the box and showed her ability to make combination passes under pressure. She was good at positioning herself to push the attack towards the wing. Her ability to anticipate the attacking lanes allowed her to step in and make clean tackles. She also pushed up at times to give her team a boost on offense. At times, you could see her weaving through the defense with speed and precision.
