4A Matchday 5’s Best Performers

Matchday 5 at the 4A level proved to be an exciting one. There were plenty of players who impressed on this matchday, including some who hadn't been noted before. In fact, the list I chose for this matchday is one comprised entirely of new players. Some players who had appeared before did impress, but the following impressed me the most.    Rosa is very talented defensive midfielder for Topsail High School. Though she didn't get a goal contribution in her team's 8-0 win, she was thorougly impressive. Playing in the heart of her team, she gives necessary balance in midfield. Her positioning is fantastic, being where her teams need her the most given the context of a play. If she needs drop deep to recover the ball or provide support higher up, she'll be there. Her ball recovery is absurd, with her not winning the ball in a duel being an anomaly. When she's on the ball, she showcases her technical ability greatly. With shifty feet and pacey, she gets past pressure smoothly. Being ambidextrous just adds to her brilliance as well.     Ellie is a massively impressive midfielder who makes her team play better because of her talent. She loves to play tough, incisive passes into her attack, and does so effectively. The weight and precision she puts on her passes seems almost unreal, placing the ball in the path of the receiver. She likes to pass the ball when she's higher up the pitch, even if she's under immense pressure. To get into the spaces to pull these passes off, she either finds pockets of space to get into or dribbles the ball forward. The way she has the clarity to pause or accelerate on the ball to control play shows tactical maturity for her age.     Ryley is a winger/wide midfielder by trade, but put on a fantastic performance as a right-back. Lightning quick, she bombs down the right flank to overlap when her team is attacking. On the ball, she plays quick one-twos to help plays advance rapidly out on the wing. When she's in the final third, she always looks to finish plays, whether through passes or shots. Either of these pose tons of danger. Her passes find players in the box that finish her chances. Shooting is a welcome ability to her game though, getting lots of power and accuracy from them.     Rebekah is a fantastic midfield talent with immense potential who leads her team in more ways than one. Her natural ability helps make her team play better, leading them with her passes and shots. When she passes from deep, she plays unreal passes to players far up the pitch. The power she gets on these passes make it seem like they're overhit, but when they arrive, they do so very precisely. This helps her team move forward when play gets stuck in midfield, which in turn leads to her team being high volume. She also loves to shoot when she's in or near the box, getting shots on target often. In fact, she's the penalty taker, scoring them with the cold-bloodedness needed.     Renata is a winger, who can play on either wing, and who has the potential to be a special player. Shorter than her peers, she makes sure to grow above them with her immense natural talent. Whenever she gets the ball, it becomes very obvious that she is not an ordinary player. Extremely agile and very skillful, she is eager to beat her defenders. Even if she is unable to, she'll do anything to get the ball back and try again. The way she rotates on her axis makes her a constant headache for whoever defends her. She always looks to advance the play, even if she loses the ball. Her crosses are already perfect, always finding a teammate off corners. With her eagerness to play and her natural talent, she's a player to keep an eye on.
