In this article I will be featuring the Utah Royals FC 09G ECNL team. It's a team out of Arizona, and they compete in the ECNL Girls [highschool_tooltip highschool_id='249555' name='Southwest'] 2024-2025 league. The Royals are in 6th place out of a total of 17 teams, with a record of (7-4-4). They recently competed in Southern [highschool_tooltip highschool_id='241429' name='California'] on March 22nd and 23rd. They won their match against [program_tooltip program_id='278040' first='So' last='Cal Blues ECNL'] by a score of 2-1. Tied their match against the 4th place team [program_tooltip program_id='283476' first='Slammers' last='FC'] HB Koge ECNL (1-1). This team has had players in the same squad since 2015.

The Royals FC 09G squad is also competing in the ECNL Phoenix Showcase 2025, with matches against Scorpion SC, XF Academy, and Oregon Surf. Some of the key players are Kate Edrington, Bella Arcadi, Raegan Pool, Reagan Rodgers, and Ashlynn Corupe. They all have impressive soccer resumes to boot and are outstanding student-athletes. The grade point average for this group of players reminds me of the CCS Division 5 champions ([highschool_tooltip highschool_id='260899' name='Sacred Heart Prep']), who also won the award for highest GPA in the section.

Now, back to the story of their trip to Japan.

Royals FC AZ participated in a cross-cultural networking event with Matsumoto Yamaga FC. Three friendly matches took place in Japan during the past summer. A squad of 12 Royals FC AZ players and coaches competed in the friendly matches and experienced cultural exchange. A few of the highlights were Royals ladies participating in a yukata dressing experience. They wore lightweight kimonos and posed for pictures. The team even got a chance to tour Matsumoto city, while visiting Matsumoto Castle with students from the Green Forest international school. For some players, the highlight of the trip might be swimming in a river in Matsumoto City.
