Dynamic Forwards at the Texas Shootout

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The club soccer season is entering its final stretch around the country and girls' teams from Texas will have an excellent opportunity to fine-tune their games ahead of the start of the playoffs in their respective leagues this weekend.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the most traditional showcases held in the Lone Star State every year, the Texas Shootout will have its 38th edition from Saturday to Monday, at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex, in the Austin area.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The tournament organized by [program_tooltip program_id='283282' first='Challenge' last='SC'] will feature as many as 120 teams from several different leagues, which will play in five different age groups during Memorial Day weekend. Some of the best players in the state will be in action this week, and before the tournament begins, we're taking a look at some of them. Extremely quick and smart with her movement of the ball, she's a constant threat when used on the wings, as opposing outside backs have a hard time chasing her when she makes diagonal runs inside. Dupree can also play more centrally, where her explosiveness and excellent timing give her teammates a reliable option for through balls. Her game is extremely well-rounded and allows her to play different roles for the team in the final third. McCuistion is big and physical enough to play as a striker and knows her way inside the penalty box, often scoring off of headers. A high-scoring striker for her high school team Lamar, she typically plays a little bit deeper for her club team, so she can get more involved in the game and contribute to their chance creation efforts. Portillo is very intelligent on the ball and can hurt opposing backlines in a lot of different ways as she has a vast repertoire of moves to beat defenders 1v1, but can also combine with teammates and find great passes in the final third. A tall attacking player, she is at her best when used at the striker role, where she can use her physical tools to battle for space inside the penalty box. A solid finisher, Medeiros is also very good at getting on the end of long passes and keeping the ball under control while her teammates approach, which gives her team the ability to play very directly, if needed. Capable of playing on either wing, as a center forward and as an attacking midfielder, she's a big part of their offense with her ability to beat opponents and get opposing backlines out of shape. Goncalves has some of the best footwork in the state in her age group and is capable of dribbling past opponents with unpredictable moves in tight spaces. She's very aggressive and direct on the ball and very rarely passes the ball or dribbles towards her own goal.
