Guilherme Torres | Prep Soccer Scout
The junior forward thrived as the focal point of Tompkins offense, playing a central role in most of their attacking plays. Medeiros used her body very well to control the space and managed to get to the end of almost every long ball that went her way, doing solid holdup play. She always did very well when chasing passes that went way too long, putting pressure on opposing defenders and forcing them to give up throw-ins around the penalty box. Medeiros worked very well with her back to the goal, but also made strong runs on the wings. She demonstrated impressive calm and quality in front of the goal to score the team’s second after beating an opponent off the dribble inside the box and drew the free kick that resulted in the game-winner thanks to her efficient holdup play.

Medeiros plays for the Tompkins team that ended up in first place in the Falcon Bracket. She ended the event with two goals and one of them was scored in a 6-0 first-round win over O’Connor in a play in which she showed excellent footwork to operate in a tight space inside the box. The junior showed good presence inside the box and was always very involved with her team’s attacking plays. Medeiros, however, didn’t limit herself to working inside the box, dropping back to make nice holdup play and getting wide to combine with her teammates.

Medeiros’ play wasn’t the most consistent, and she would, at times, go somewhat long periods without getting on the ball, but she did good things more often than not in the final third. Playing more to the right side of Rise’s offense, she made some nice plays down the line, sending crosses into the penalty box and earning corner kicks for her team. Medeiros used her body very well in the final third, winning duels for the ball and making turns on defenders to beat them as she tried to get into the box.

Medeiros is a forward with RISE SC G09 GA. A tall attacking player, she is at her best when used at the striker role, where she can use her physical tools to battle for space inside the penalty box. A solid finisher, Medeiros is also very good at getting on the end of long passes and keeping the ball under control while her teammates approach, which gives her team the ability to play very directly, if needed. She’s very intelligent on the ball and doesn’t need much time on the ball, efficiently moving the ball with first-time passes, which allows her to perform well when used in midfield too.

Medeiros was very discrete in the first half, when, playing as an attacking midfielder, she didn’t find much space to operate, being immediately surrounded by HTX players when she got on the ball. Medeiros started the second half as a striker and was much more effective for them. Her presence up top gave her team the ability to play long through the center and she was successful at getting on the end of passes and holding the ball. She had a nice battle with HTX’s
