Another lovely day for some footy at IMG Academy with the Girl's division in its second day. We had some competitive matches today with two games going to penalties and one game decided by only one goal. The Navy vs Gray game was a heavyweight battle with national team talent on both sides that ended in a 1-1 draw with the Gray team winning on penalties. Bayern Munich bounced back after their 6-2 loss yesterday with a 1-0 win over the Royal side while the Weleague team equalized late against the Red team only to lose on penalties. Here are some players that caught my eye today.

Big time performance from Lanier today in a loss to Bayern Munich. She is very tidy on the ball and has an excellent athletic profile. Her ability to clean things up at the back is excellent, shutting down anything that came her way. She can break lines on the dribble or with a pass and doesn't seem fazed when she gets pressed.

Kowalzyk was really unlucky not to score as she hit the post and forced some excellent saves from the Bayern Munich goalie. She is amazing with her back to goal whether that's holding the ball up or laying it off and spinning away into space. I'd say she is equally good at leading the line on the last defender or dropping into midfield to facilitate play. Another really impressive talent from Tophat at this event.

Fulton had one of, if not the best performance from today's games. She was everywhere for her Red team. She started the game at center back and then moved into midfield later on doing a fantastic job in both positions. The Weleague team from Asia is incredibly technical stringing a ton of passes together but they found it really difficult to get around Fulton. Anything good they had going seemed to end when she got around the ball. She has an impressive burst of speed and she was excellent in possession.

It seems like it was Tophat day at this event. Eaton was up and down the right flank like prime Cafu for Brazil. She is so fast and very technically gifted. Really difficult to beat 1 v 1 and if she has momentum on the dribble she is almost impossible to stop. She can cross from deep and get to the byline with equal efficiency.

Coffman has a very bright future. Can do anything with a ball on the ground at her feet with a vast library of moves at her disposal. Relentless work rate and possesses a very high soccer IQ. Not scared to get stuck in and put her body on the line either. Seems like a really motivated player with a high competitive edge about her. I'm a big fan.

One of the younger ones at this tournament but certainly doesn't play like it. The youth national team star scored her teams only goal today in a 1-1 draw. She is extremely shifty on the dribble, has speed to burn and is an excellent finisher. The Indy Premier talent plays well beyond her years and is definitely one to keep an eye on moving forward.
