Few teams turned heads at the recent SUSA Winter Showcase quite like the Poughkeepsie Firehawks 2027, which fielded teams in the Hudson Youth Soccer League.

USE THE PROMO CODE almasin30 for a discount on your first subscription

I really wanted to get his article out earlier but felt obligated to feature the ECNL previews and highlights as priorities. Not to say that this was not the case for a team loaded with such talented players. Showcasing up-and-coming players is definitely one of the core foundations.

Entering the tournament with little fanfare, this dynamic group erupted onto the big stage, winning both bracket games by identical 3-0 score lines and claiming their bracket title in emphatic fashion. The Firehawks' performance was more than just dominant results; it was a statement. In an environment loaded with elite youth competition, this Hudson Valley squad showcased tactical discipline, technical sharpness, and a collective confidence that suggests they are far ahead of where many expected them to be.

Some of the Scouts/coaches listed to be on hand for this event were from Babson, Bard, Bethany, Binghamton University, Borough of Manhattan Community College, Boston College, Brooklyn College, Brown, Bryn Mawr, Campbell University, Carnegie Mellon University, Clarkson, Colgate, College of The Holy Cross, Connecticut College, College of Staten Island, DeSales University, Dickinson, Dominican University New York, and University of Pittsburgh - Bradford. The colleges in attendance were closer to double this amount.

Clinical and Composed:

Across both games, the Firehawks were organized defensively and ruthless in front of goal.

Game One: A composed 3-0 victory built on controlled possession, sharp transitions, and relentless defensive pressure.

Game Two: Another 3-0 performance, this time highlighted by explosive attacking sequences and disciplined game management to secure a second clean sheet.

Leading the charge was midfielder Gabrielle Krakower, who dictated tempo and linked play seamlessly between the lines. Her field vision and composure under pressure allowed the Firehawks to maintain control in key moments. Up top, striker Chase Harris delivered the showcase's defining moment: a hat trick on the day, demonstrating clinical finishing ability and intelligent movement inside the box. Harris' ability to find space and capitalize on chances separated the Firehawks from their bracket opponents.

Defensively, in the midfield Kaylee Hartford played with poised, physical defending and strong positional awareness. The Firehawks conceded nothing across both matches, a testament to the unit's cohesion and discipline as well as talented goalkeeper Nevaeh Rennie. While the 2027 group owned the spotlight, [player_tooltip player_id='231871' first='Addison' last='Ingwersen'] (2029) showcased elite off-ball movement that created consistent opportunities, not only for herself but for teammates making secondary runs. Her soccer IQ and timing were impossible to ignore.

The Firehawks may not receive the same level of exposure as clubs competing in national platforms like Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) or the Girls Academy (GA), but their SUSA performance proved that high-level talent exists well beyond the traditional recruiting pipelines.

That relative lack of visibility is precisely why scouts should pay close attention. The Firehawks are developing players in a competitive, growth-focused environment, and they're doing it without the automatic spotlight that follows some of the larger national brands.

This is not a flash-in-the-pan team. The structure, chemistry, and tactical awareness displayed at the showcase point to a program building something sustainable.

Why Scouts Should Take Notice. In a college showcase weekend of two games, the Firehawks had two clean sheets, six goals scored, and zero conceded. Midfield control and attacking depth Strong individual standouts within a cohesive system!

Programs looking for competitive, intelligent, and tactically disciplined players would be wise to add the Firehawks 2027 to their watch lists. For more information about the club's philosophy, teams, and player development approach, visit Firehawks.us. Also, I want to thank Coach Stephan Krakower and CJ Smith for their support with this article.

If the SUSA Showcase was any indication, this group is only getting started. They will showcase again this Spring at Mad Dog Mania in upstate NY.

Featured Players:

1. [player_tooltip player_id='231871' first='Addison' last='Ingwersen'] - 2029 - Forward/Midfielder - School: Kings Park

2. Gabrielle Krakower - 2027 - Midfielder - School: Spackenkill

3. Chase Harris - 2027 - Forward/Midfielder - School: Arlington

4. Kaylee Hartford - 2027 - Midfielder/Defender - School: Ketcham

5. Nevaeh Rennie - 2027 - Goalkeeper/Forward - School: Pine Plains

Showcased elite off-ball movement that created consistent opportunities, not only for herself but for teammates making secondary runs. Her soccer IQ and timing were impossible to ignore. A natural striker with an instinct for finding the back of the net, finishing inside the box or creating her own shot off the dribble, Addie has the tools that every coach looks for in a goal-scorer. What sets Addison apart is her combination of technical skill and composure under pressure. While playing up two age groups, she has all the makings of a forward who can make a direct impact at the next level. Hoping to see her make the top 100 or top 50 list for class of 2029 New York players.

[player_tooltip player_id='231871' first='Addison' last='Ingwersen'] - Social Media - Highlights

https://twitter.com/addie_ingwersen/status/2003308556628414727?s=20

Dictated tempo and linked play seamlessly between the lines.
