Texas Shootout Goalkeepers to Watch

<p>The club soccer season has entered its final stretch, with league matches completed around the country and only a few events left before the playoffs for most of the leagues.</p>   <p>Teams from Texas will have an excellent opportunity to fine-tune their games ahead of the most important moment of the season this weekend, when the traditional Texas Shootout tournament will be held.</p>   <p>The 39th edition of the event that attracts teams from all over Texas and neighboring states will take place in Round Rock from Saturday to Monday and will have 107 teams getting on the field.</p>   <p>Some of the top players in the state will be in action in Round Rock this weekend, and we'll feature some of them ahead of the start of the Texas Shootout. We list the goalkeepers first:</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Vontoure plays for the [program_tooltip program_id='283282' first='Challenge' last='SC'] G08 team that will face [program_tooltip program_id='283397' first='[program_tooltip program_id='278668' first='Lonestar' last='']' last='SC'] G09 Red and [program_tooltip program_id='283457' first='San' last='Antonio City SC'] G09 in Round Rock. She's a big, physical goalkeeper who gets to cover a large area of the goal with her big frame and makes the most of it to keep the ball off the net. Vontoure stands out with her positioning, too, and has very firm hands that very rarely give up rebounds. She uses her length very well between the posts and is very quick and explosive when she goes for the ball, reaching it in difficult spots. Hart also does a good job of challenging opponents in 1v1 plays, stepping up at the right time, and placing her body in a way that makes it hard for them to finish around her. She's extremely agile and reliable between the posts and is prone to making impressive saves. O'Mahony has excellent reflexes and also stands out for how quickly she manages to leave the goal to dive and claim the ball when passes are played behind the backline. Her punts are very accurate and often initiate attacking plays for her team.</p>      <p class="text-gray-700">Cathey is part of the Rise SC G10 team that will have [program_tooltip program_id='283397' first='[program_tooltip program_id='278668' first='Lonestar' last='']' last='SC'] RL STXCL G10, [program_tooltip program_id='283397' first='[program_tooltip program_id='278668' first='Lonestar' last='']' last='SC'] RL STXCL Black G10 and GSA Force RL STXCL G10 as opponents this weekend. A Jamaican youth international, she's excellent between the posts, making safe stops with her firm hands and always looking reliable. Cathey is very vocal and leads her team's defensive system with constant and efficient communication. One of the top goalkeepers in the country, she's a difference-maker between the posts at the highest levels and makes of her team a very tough one to score on. Very technical and consistent, she can make save after save and does a great job of sustaining pressure and keeping her focus right where it should be.
