Girls’ 5A Best Performers This Season

The girls' 5A season ends with Hickory High School crowned as state champions. In the final, they beat Dixon High School 2-0 with two second-half goals. The regional finalists who missed out on the state championship were South Point High School and Western Alamance High School. This list of players here is the strongest seen so far. As we continue moving up the conferences, as I mentioned before, the stronger the lists we'll see.

Piper is a complete talent who thrives playing anywhere on the left flank. She's as talented offensively as she is defensively. Her stats this season for a defender by trade are unreal: 43 goals and 32 assists. Stats might not tell us the full story of a player, but these stats cannot be ignored. When you see her play, you see why she ended the season with these numbers. She drives forward aggressively and with pace, breezing past players. Depending on where she is in the final third, she'll choose the correct option to finish a play. Her crosses, both lobbed and driven, are precise. She makes them difficult to defend and puts them in perfect areas to finish. Her shooting is strong and effective. The goalkeepers don't have much option when she blasts one past them. Defensively, she's strong and imposing with her tackles.

Emma is a midfielder who has the attributes to play up top as well. She is uncomfortable to defend when she gets the ball at her feet. She uses her body to create space where she can make runs into with the ball. Her main driving force is to get the ball forward.

Jyi'Yanna continues to grow as a player with her potential increasing constantly. She can play anywhere across attack, but her abilities see her thrive most as a striker. Regardless of where she plays, she is constantly moving. Pressing, running into space, shimmying players off of her, and dribbling are all attributes that she uses to advance play. Her shooting is fantastic. Even in reduced spaces, she manages to get great shots off.

Callie follows a phenomenal season as an attacker with an extraordinary one. 85 goal contributions in just 24 matches is ridiculous for any player. In her case, it's even more so because she is a center back by trade. I've written about her extensively before, and she's only gone and improved on those abilities. Her potential is skyrocketing with each passing season.
