Rankings Preview: Rising Talent from the MA 2028 Class

The Prep Soccer state rankings for the Massachusetts 2028 class will be released next week. Prior to the release of the new rankings, check out a scouting report on players scouts must know from this group.     A six-foot center back with a strong all-around game, Dowd offers intangibles that every coach seeks out. There are few players with her physical and athletic gifts. She is a smart player who reads the game well. She is capable as a 1v1 defender, but she's exceptional as an off-the-ball defender who can roam and attack when the opportunity is there. She is good on the ball and an excellent passer. She is a weapon in aerial duels as well.     Sullivan is a center back on the [program_tooltip program_id='283706' first='NEFC' last=''] 2010 Girls Academy team. She was named to the Girls Academy Generation Adidas All-Star team. She plays left center back for her club team. She's right footed. She's got the physical frame and athleticism to handle the game at the next level.    Sullivan immediately stands out from game film as one of the key players on her club side. She's the leader of the defense with her actions. Her competitiveness seems contagious. She seems to relish in the chance to take on the challenge of besting the top attacking player from the opposition.    Sullivan is a top defender who has a bright future in the game.        Picard is a forward on the [program_tooltip program_id='280839' first='South' last='Shore Select'] 2010 ECNL team. She is a forceful attacking talent who can play on the wing or through the center. Picard is right footed, but she is a good finisher with her left as well.    Picard has impressed this ECNL season with her effectiveness on the ball. She's been a bright spot in the final third with her finishing ability. She can finish with power just as well as placement. She's strong on the ball with skill to dribble past, around, and through defenders.   Picard is excellent in the press. She is sharp in the duel and impresses with her tenacity in the tackle. She's got key traits to her game to suggest she will be a prolific scorer at the college level.      Manning is a midfielder/defender on the [program_tooltip program_id='283344' first='FC' last='Stars'] 2010 ECNL team. She has been part of US Soccer Talent ID events in the past. She can play in a variety of spots on the field. She has a future at pretty much every role as well.    Manning impresses with her quick decision-making on the ball. She is always thinking a step ahead of the play and trying to create chances for her team. She provides key passes for her club team consistently and they typically come in the transition moments of the game.    Manning's skill lets her create these chances. She's difficult to dispossess because the ball is rarely on her feet for a second too long. Manning has a bright future at defensive midfield spot.      Chisholm is an defender on the [program_tooltip program_id='280839' first='South' last='Shore Select'] 2009 ECNL team. She can play outside back or center back. She is five-foot-10, strong, and confident on the ball. She uses her body well in the duel. She can handle wingers with pace because she is a smart player with excellent defensive instincts. She's handled the outside back spot well this season. She can hit a good cross and does well taking care of possession of the ball. Chisholm has been a standout in the 2009 age group this season.       Oliwa is an attacking midfielder on the [program_tooltip program_id='280839' first='South' last='Shore Select'] 2010 ECNL team. She was ECNL New England All-Conference First Team last season. She's been part of US Soccer Talent ID events in the past.    Oliwa displays the key traits for her position. She has a great first touch, she's confident on the ball, and she has excellent vision. She can split the defense with her passing. She has a feel for the proper weight and timing for the pass. She does well operating through the center channel and shows the ability to fully scan the field quickly. She can beat players off the dribble.    Oliwa is a playmaker who unlocks her team's style of play.      Brooks is a forward/midfielder on the [program_tooltip program_id='280839' first='South' last='Shore Select'] 2009 ECNL team. She is an attacking player with a dynamic change of pace. She's excellent at using body feints to create space. She's quick and gets past defenders with a variety of moves.    Brooks can play as a center forward. She's not the most imposing target forward, but she bests the opposition with her smarts and quickness. She is smooth on the ball and clever with her passing. Brooks does well checking her shoulders and receiving the ball into space. She's been a standout against top 2027 talent.
