ECNL 2011 Champions League: Round of 16 Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On Sunday, the ECNL Champions League 2011 playoffs from 60 Acres Park had the Round of 16 games. The result from the final day of the weekend is there are only eight teams left competing for the title for this age group. I thought Horton did a good job exemplifying what made the team special. Her effort, especially defensively, was something any coach would want from a midfielder. Her ability to play any spot in the midfield was noteworthy as well. The midfielder made a great late run into the box and finished off the chance. Her linking play with Portia Cummings was key to unlocking the MVLA side. She also did well on crosses in securing the ball and leaving no opportunity for the opponent. Her distribution also shifted the field. She helped protect the defense with her positioning. She was a commanding presence in the center of the field. She did really well in checking her shoulders before receiving the ball.
