Popov recorded the shutout in goal for Nationals in the 1-0 win over Solar. Early in the game, she was smart coming off the line and cutting out the pass over the top. Throughout the game, she came up the save when needed. She also did well on crosses in securing the ball and leaving no opportunity for the opponent. Her distribution also shifted the field. She had excellent drop kicks that allowed her team a quick counter. 

Popov is a goalkeeper on the Nationals 2011 ECNL team. She has been part of US Soccer Talent ID events in the past. She’s a tall, athletic shot-stopper with excellent instincts for the position. She’s quick to get on the ball and does a terrific job at moving her feet to keep her body behind the shot. She is fearless off her line. Popov has the potential to be one of the top goalkeepers in the country.
