Horton impressed for her Nationals side during the ECNL playoffs last season. She’s stepped into the same role with a new team this season (same club, just slightly adjusted squad with the graduation year vs birth year change).

The way Horton plays the No. 6 spot is a perfect example of what coaches want from a player in that role from a tactics and effort standpoint. Her movement off the ball – especially when her team is in possession – stands out from her peers. She’s always moving and adjusting. She’s creating this windows to make options for her teammates. Nationals has only conceded one goal through this point in the season and a lot of that credit goes to the work Horton is doing in shutting down the center of the pitch with her constant work and quick decisions on the ball when she gains possession. She’s an unsung hero of her side.
