The ECNL playoffs kick off this week from Seattle, Washington. The event is featuring a new format for this season. The playoffs will be a knockout format for the top 32 seeded teams in the Champions League playoffs. The teams that advance to the championship will play five games in seven days. Depth with the key for the squads that end up lifting the trophy as there is no room for error with the group play format being erased for this year's edition.

The thirty-two teams headed to Washington are seeded from #1-32 based on the success of each squad during conference play from the 2025/2026 club season. The favorites are the favorites for a reason, but read about the players who could be key to pulling an upset in the opening round against the top four seeds below.

The top seeded teams are Solar SC (Texas), [program_tooltip program_id='283303' first='Concorde' last='Fire'] Platinum (Georgia), Arlington (Virginia), and MVLA (Northern California). Solar SC enters the postseason with a 20-0-2 record. The Texas powerhouse is the top seeded team and takes on CESA Liberty in the opening game. The Solar roster is a bit of a who's who of the 2011 age group. There is national team level talent in every position - and there is going to be plenty of scouts with their eyes on this team. CESA is no push-over though.

Mackenzie Struk is a dangerous player on the break, which could be the key for CESA in this game. She can feature in the front line or also in the midfield. She has a powerful shot and can hit the frame from distance. CESA has the talents to catch a team on the break, which could push the championship favorites in the opener.

[program_tooltip program_id='283303' first='Concorde' last='Fire'] Platinum went through the season with a 19-3-1 record. The Georgia squad has been dominant defensively with only more than one goal conceded in two games this season (both losses). One of those defeats came to Solar during a Showcase earlier this season. Concorde will be dreaming of a rematch with the top seed in the final. Standing in the way at the start of the playoffs is [program_tooltip program_id='283476' first='Slammers' last='FC'] (Southern California).

The calling card for the teams to pull off an upset in the knockout round is built on the defense. Slammers has the players to contend with any roster of defenders. Center back [player_tooltip player_id='380719' first='Gia' last='Montegani'] is a standout for her position and could be key for her squad to take out Concorde. She is also a weapon on set pieces so she could be a threat to grab a goal off a corner kick as well. Fellow defender Annabelle Rodriguez-Campuzano is another name to know from this Slammers squad.

Arlington Soccer Association is the No. 3 seed in the 2011 age group. The Virginia club went 14-1-6 during the club season. The lone loss was back in October, so it's been a lengthy unbeat streak for Arlington. They open up the playoffs against Ohio Elite SA, which is a perennial contender in the postseason. Madelyn James is the headliner on the Ohio Elite squad. The US U15 National Team member is obviously going to be a focus for the opposition.

Midfielder Hailey Holscher has also been excellent for Ohio Elite during recent events. The defensive midfielder is good on the ball and an excellent two-way player. She's very good at protecting the backline. She could be the key for Ohio Elite in stopping Arlington.

MVLA went 22-3-1 through the season. The Northern California team has the depth and attacking talent to take on anyone in this age group. They open up the playoffs against SUSA (New York). The two coastal powerhouses should be one of the marquee battles from the opening round. MVLA presents a team with possession-dominant style that can spring on goal in the blink of an eye.

Caileen Reardon should be the one to watch on SUSA. The midfielder is a general in the center of the field. She can finish chances from set pieces and has a booming leg to get shots on frame from distance. She could be the key to unlocking the MVLA defense.
