ECNL South East All-Conference: 2028 Defensive Leaders Named

The ECNL has announced its 2025-26 Girls Conference Players of the Year and All-Conference First and Second Teams, and the South East Conference features a strong group of defensive standouts. In particular, the class of 2028 produced defenders who consistently anchored their back lines and set the tone in high-pressure moments. From shutting down top attackers to organizing play out of the back, these players made their mark all season. Their ability to disrupt opponents and lead from the back earned them well-deserved All-Conference recognition.    Feldman has been a reliable outlet in the backline for Prime this season, consistently showing clean ball control that sets her up for success. Time and again, she plays the ball and drops seamlessly into position, maintaining the team's defensive structure. Even under pressure, Feldman connects passes with the attack, showing composure and vision from the back. When a 50/50 ball is up for grabs in the middle, she never backs down. Always contesting tackles and fighting to win possession. Her solid defensive performances throughout the season did not go unnoticed, earning her a well-deserved First Team All-Conference honor.     A team captain and true lockdown defender, Akoh sets the tone for Atlanta Fire from the back line. As a center back, her reliability and leadership give the team confidence to push forward, knowing she'll anchor the defense. Akoh reads the game well, breaking up attacks with smart positioning and timely tackles. Her ability to organize the back line and communicate under pressure has been crucial throughout the season. She never shies away from big moments, consistently stepping up to win crucial challenges and keep her team steady in tight situations. Thanks to her consistency, defensive presence, and leadership. Further, Akoh has rightfully earned First Team honors this season and established herself as one of the conference's premier defenders.     Controlling aerial balls and avoiding pressure, she consistently plays smart passes down the line to build up play. In addition, she uses her physicality to win possession and makes incisive passes to disrupt the opposition's attack. Her vision and anticipation against opponents set her apart, allowing her to read the play and stay a step ahead. Furthermore, her ability to recover quickly and regain control has been a constant asset for her team. For these reasons, she earned well-deserved First Team and ECNL All-Conference honors this season.     Bolden stands out as a defender who brings creativity and composure to the backline. She is patient on the ball, always reading the game and knowing exactly when to step in and gain possession. Moreover, her decision-making is a mark of her maturity. She doesn't just look for the long ball, but instead values building play through the back line. Time after time, Bolden gets the ball down, shields it from pressure, and makes the right choice to keep Sporting Jax organized and in control. Additionally, her ability to stay calm and connect passes under pressure has been a key asset all season. Thanks to her vision, smart positioning, and reliability in high-pressure moments, Bolden rightfully earned a place on the All-Conference First Team.     Wooles emerged as a dynamic defender this season, consistently making smart decisions under pressure. Her speed and ability to close space or force attackers into shutdown situations made her a cornerstone of the back line. Throughout the season, she excelled at tackling and turning the ball over. Constantly disrupting opponents' attacks and regaining possession for her team. In addition, Wooles demonstrates a strong defensive mind. Always scanning the field, anticipating threats, and positioning herself to support both the defense and the transition forward. For her consistency, game-reading ability, and all-around impact, Wooles rightfully earned All-Conference First Team honors this season.
