California 2030s on the Rise as Club Season Begins

The club season is just getting underway in California, and the 2030 class is already on the radar of scouts. The 2012 age group remains a major focus for U.S. Soccer scouts, with Talent ID events taking place across the country. The 2011 age group is also drawing attention, as the new graduation-year structure provides additional opportunities for certain players. Below is a scouting report on some of the California talent worth keeping a close eye on as the new campaign gets underway.    Hamrick is the star in goal for [program_tooltip program_id='283295' first='City' last='SC'] GA White U15. She was awarded the Golden Gloves at the Girls Academy Playoffs last season as the top player in her position at the event. She's also a multi-sport athlete and seems to be following in the recent trend of top goalkeepers in Southern California who also star on the football field (playing Flag Football for her high school and club). She's also a basketball player.   The elite athlete, who is listed at five-foot-11 but looks over six-feet, has been outstanding at the start of the season for reasons beyond the expected. She's a great shot-stopper, but her ability with the ball at her feet is what is going to get attention from top college scouts. She's really comfortable playing off her line and being the outlet in possession for her team. She is good with the ball at her feet and doesn't rush decisions. There's still room to grow there, but the development she's shown in that area should be getting her consistent looks at the Youth National Team level.     Murdock is an attacking talent on the [program_tooltip program_id='283312' first='Davis' last='Legacy'] side. She can play forward, attacking midfielder, or winger. She has been part of the US Club Soccer id2 Program.   Murdock stood out from game film for her ability on the ball. She's a clever dribbler who has excellent control with either foot. She can slalom around defenders with the ease to cut off either foot and excellent body control while under pressure.   Murdock showed her quality during recent ECNL games. She uses her body well in duels to win the ball cleanly and then has a knack for putting her body between the defender and the ball. She's drawn fouls and created chances for her side with this trait. Murdock is a fun player to scout with her dynamic attacking qualities.     Nelson is a forward on the [program_tooltip program_id='283295' first='City' last='SC'] U15 White GA team. She was the Most Valuable Player at the Girls Academy Playoffs over the summer. She scored the key goals for her team in the biggest moments during the postseason.   She plays as a center forward for her team. She's on an island up top in the City style of play. She battles agains the two center backs. She's effective in that role. She can hold up the ball and likes to play the ball out wide for the winger. She makes good darting runs into the box and effectively finds chances with the timing of her movement.   Nelson's best strength is her consistency from moment to moment and game to game. She shines with her high level game understanding.     Simon-Carlson is a forward on the [program_tooltip program_id='283312' first='Davis' last='Legacy'] U15 ECNL team. She previously played for [program_tooltip program_id='334909' first='Elk' last='Grove'].   Simon-Carlson stood out from the early games this season. She has the game-breaking ability in the attack. She is a winger but has played as a center forward. She has breakaway pace. She gets the ball into space and knows she will win the foot race. She's a good finisher in those situations.   She can operate as the playmaker too. She plays with her head up and makes good decisions on the ball. She's unselfish - perhaps too much at times. She's a player to watch during the ECNL this season as she could be a favorite to be a top scorer in the Northern California division.     Gwerder is a forward on the Mustang SC U15 ECNL team. She was part of the US Soccer Regional Mini-Camp earlier this year. She's a top attacking talent in the Northern California ECNL division.   Gwerder's quality shines on both sides of the ball. She's a ferocious defender. She gets into tackles and is relentless with her pressure. It's probably not going to make her highlight reel often, but she's a legitimately great defender for her position.   She scores goals by the buckets. She's a fluid athlete and glides on the field. She gets through challenges with ease because she's got great balance and always seems to be in control. She can get off a shot or pass in the blink of an eye. She's got that top level type of quality in teh final third that very few youth players possess.     Barba is a left winger/outside back on the [program_tooltip program_id='283295' first='City' last='SC'] U15 White GA team. She played as a left winger last season. She played as a left back during some of the action during Blues Cup recently - one of the premier preseason tournaments in Southern California.   Barba's play at left back was extremely encouraging. She's an enthusiastic defender who is tenacious in 1v1 duels. She can dominate her side of the pitch. She is quick and covers a ton of ground.   Her attacking qualities shine in that role as well. She can beat players 1v1 and get in a cross. Her game awareness is also pretty advanced. Barba has an impressive highlight clip from the early action for her squad.     Muirragui is an indispensable part of the [program_tooltip program_id='283295' first='City' last='SC'] GA White U15. She plays a number of spots on the field. She can be the defensive midfielder for her side. She can play as the attacking midfield. She will also feature in the attack.   She's got the quality on the ball to be dominant in any role. When she plays at defensive midfielder, she is great at reading the opposition and finding the areas to get to in order to cut out passes.   Muirragui has been part of US Soccer Talent ID events in the past and looks to be playing at the level to continue earning the attention of top scouts.     Gresik is an attacking midfielder/forward on the [program_tooltip program_id='283295' first='City' last='SC'] GA team. She was part of the Girls Academy Southwest Talent ID event in 2025.   Gresik has quick feet, good ball control, and excellent vision. She thrives with her pressure on the ball and forcing the opposition into mistakes in dangerous spots on the field. Gresik's ability to quickly convert those moments into opportunities is what stands out from game film. She does well with timing of the pass and being deceptive with her body shape to mislead the defender.   She's got the quality on the ball to hit a shot from outside of the box as well. Gresik's pace of play stands out too. She plays at full pace when on the ball and burst past defenders. She looks like she is ready for bigger challenges in the near future.     Ghilarducci is a midfielder/defender on the Mustang SC U15 ECNL team. She can play center back or defensive midfield. She's been part of the PDP or ODP in Northern California.   She's an asset for her team in either position. In the midfield, she's a great connecting piece and makes quick decisions on the ball. Her movement off the ball is always creating the next pass for her side. She's got the quality to play out of tight spaces.   At center back, her toughness shines. She's a battler and has no qualms with getting physical in the duel. She matches the challenge with her intensity at every turn. She's been impressive in that role through the first few games of the season.
