US Soccer identifies top 2012/2013 talent in Northern California

U.S. Soccer is hosting a Talent Identification Center in Orinda, California on October 7. The event brings in the top players in the 2012 and 2013 age groups for the one-day event. Below is a scouting report on some of the names to know. Byun was one of the stars of the Prep Soccer ID event in Southern California over the summer. She is a silky smooth passer who can play any spot in the midfield. Byun plays up an age group at the club level (she is a 2013, playing on the 2011/2012 team). She makes quick decisions on the ball and looks the part of a player who can compete at the international level. Borges is a midfielder on the Almaden Girls Academy team. She was part of the US U14 Girls National Team camps last season. Borges, positionally, looks like a defensive midfielder on the pitch. She has a bit more a box-to-box midfield mentality. She can do everything. She has excellent close control of the ball and has no issue with taking an extra touch to slow down the pace of the game when needed. She is a tenacious defender and will throw her body into the duel. Whiteside is a forward on the Almaden Girls Academy squad. Borges and Whiteside are the two representatives from that squad. Whiteside plays on the wing. She can play on either side of the formation. She's right footed, but can hit a good cross with her left. She's got good pace and has the ability to get past defenders on the dribble. Whiteside will be one to challenge the defenders at this event with her skill, speed, and nose for the goal. Cerna is a center back on the [program_tooltip program_id='283312' first='Davis' last='Legacy'] ECNL team. She has been part of the [program_tooltip program_id='287623' first='Cal' last='North ODP'] team. She is an excellent modern defender. She has the athleticism to cover any forward - even in the wide channels. She is able to shut down the player with her excellent defensive technique. Her skills on the ball might be the best part of her game. She is confident to break the pressure off the dribble or the pass. She plays with her head up and makes great decisions on the ball.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iq_DDTTch_c

   Partial Roster Violet Ybarra, Ella Anderson, Hazel Chavez, Teagan Borges, Alice Whiteside, [player_tooltip player_id='380491' first='Elisa' last='Kim'], [player_tooltip player_id='338999' first='Muskaan' last='Boparai'], [player_tooltip player_id='336101' first='Lani' last='Marroun'], [player_tooltip player_id='336102' first='Giuliana' last='Gwerder'], [player_tooltip player_id='409499' first='Cate' last='Kelley'], [player_tooltip player_id='380232' first='Ximena' last='Quezada'], Claire Boettner, Alia Jones, [player_tooltip player_id='382447' first='Jean' last='Byun'], [player_tooltip player_id='335225' first='Gabby' last='Moore'], Rowan Radke, Tahlia Radke, [player_tooltip player_id='315879' first='Aria' last='Flores'], Delilah Miranda, Olive Rodriguez, Polina Gridina, [player_tooltip player_id='335226' first='Avneet' last='Sandhu'], [player_tooltip player_id='336012' first='Allison' last='Tanner'], [player_tooltip player_id='335572' first='Anava' last='Armanino'], Sereen Papp, Eva Chen, Tessa Michaud, Kalina Neal, [player_tooltip player_id='409839' first='Gianna' last='Cerna']
