The Bay Area Surf standout wanted to test herself against the best of Southern California and she aced that test. She’s silky smooth on the ball with a great first touch. She showed great tactical awareness and quickly found teammates who saw the game at the same level as her. Her combination play was excellent and she generated chances for her side.
Byun could improve on her finishing. She seemed too take a second too long to get off a shot on the day. That said, she was still among the best at pulling the strings for her side and calmness on the ball.

Byun consistently pushes the attack or wins the ball back, demonstrating her attentiveness to the game with physicality and a relentless work ethic. In addition, she proved to be a key contributor for Surf, generating multiple goals with her aggressive play in the final third. Furthermore, Byun’s skill set extends beyond attacking. She excels at winning possession in the middle, settling the ball, and sparking transitions with controlled dribbling. As a result, her ability to combine defensive grit with sharp distribution makes her a crucial two-way player for Bay Area Surf’s success.
