About Stella
What's your biggest strength as a player, and how does it show up in games?
I think my biggest strength is reading the game and staying calm under pressure. I'm also told by my coaches that I am a good leader and very vocal on the field. I’m good at seeing what’s happening around me and figuring out what I need to do next. I’m also really competitive and I don’t give up on a play easily. If I lose the ball, I will get it back!
What are you working to improve right now?
I’m always trying to get faster with my decisions and more confident when I’m under pressure. I also want to keep improving technically and being more consistent. I know there’s always something I can get better at, so I try to learn as much as I can from my coaches and teammates.
What are you looking for in a college program?
I want to play somewhere that takes soccer seriously and will push me to become a better player. I want coaches who will challenge me and teammates who work hard and really want to compete. I also want a school where I’m happy and can get a good education. The end goal is to go professional!
Outside of your sport, what should coaches know about you?
I’m pretty independent and I like trying new things and meeting new people. Moving away from my family at a young age when I was recruited for Benfica has made me grow up a lot and learn how to handle things on my own. I’m also really close with my family and I like having fun and being around people when I’m not playing soccer.
What do you want to study, and what career interests you?
I’m not completely sure yet what I want to study or what I want to do for a career. I enjoy engineering and the arts. There are a few things I’m interested in, but I’m still figuring it out. I’m excited to learn more about different options and find something I really enjoy.
