Aggieland Friendship Cup: Five Goalkeepers to Watch

McHugh thrives with her positioning, which always puts her in great spots to make saves. She controls the penalty box with great efficiency and is very quick to leave her spot between the posts to get first to passes behind the backline or to limit the options of opposing attackers. Thompson also has good reflexes between the posts and excellent instincts, which push her to make the right move in unpredictable situations. She benefits from her excellent positioning between the posts to make stops, but has more than enough athleticism to make acrobatic saves when she needs to. Despite not being very tall, she also controls the penalty box extremely well in crosses and never hesitates before leaving her position to punch or catch the ball. She's long and athletic and uses her frame extremely well to make the goal smaller to opposing attackers and to get to shots away from her body range. Lipari is excellent at reading opponents and because of that, she typically comes up with the best solution to make stops. The goalkeeper gives the team a lot of defensive stability with her quickness between the posts and her ability to step up and make big saves. Gonzalez is very patient between the posts and waits until the last possible moment to make decisions, which leads her to make better choices.
