The Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit Lions came into this match as the 1st place team in league standings with the goal of winning their last two matches. In the PSAL South Division, only the 1st place team gets an automatic bid to the CCS (Central Coast Section) tournament. What's more impressive than their overall 14-1-2 record and 11-1 league record is the fact that on their 18th game they are only 4 goals away from 100. The Lions high-powered offense is looking to overpower the KIPP San Jose Collegiate Wolfpack and get one step closer to a league championship.

Both sides played hard in the first half, and the main difference was Cristo Rey's ball movement and speedy attackers. The Lions led 3-0 at half, with two goals coming from Cesar Torres and one from Alex Garcia. On the defensive side, holding it down for Cristo Rey is the dynamic duo of CB [player_tooltip player_id='274706' first='Andrew' last='Jaimes'] and goalkeeper Joseph Salazar. This combo is responsible for 8 clean sheets on the season.

In the second half, it seemed like the Wolfpack stepped up their attack and caught the Lions sleeping. Two back-to-back goals made it a ball game. Juan Vasquez and Gabriel Herrera got the goals for KSJC. Luckily, Torres still had a bit more to give as he got his hat trick off of a sweet pass while slipping through the defense and sending it past the goalkeeper's outstretched arms.

Next up for HC Adela Contreras and the Lions is to win their last league match against LCPA (Latino College Preparatory Academy), who previously beat the Lions but is in second place as their league favors superior goal differential. Both teams flaunted impressive scoring records, with the Lions at 96-19 (+77) and the Wolfpack at 61-7 (+54). As for HC Max Diego and the Wolfpack, they can go 7-7 on the season by winning their last two matches.

Has a calculating and athletic approach to the game. He took apart runs by making hard challenges, stepping into lanes, and shutting down runners trying to run past the defensive 3. His precise passing is also worth noting, as he can also hit players from all spots on the pitch. Similar to the last time I saw him play, he sent quality long balls over the top or between defenders. At least one of them resulted in a goal. He's a big part of their defensive success as they have 8 clean sheets on the season. He is also a player who can play up if needed. He plays club soccer for Santa Clara Sporting. Note: He is the 2028 class.

Played as a defender and at the midfield position. Really good at tracking down speedy forwards. Challenged for 50/50 and took on wingers running down the channels. He also finds open spots on the field, and it paid off as he scored his team's first goal of the match. I liked his composure as he seemed to position himself in the right places to help slow down the high-scoring attack. He plays club soccer for Breakers FC.

He is listed as a midfielder and forward. In this match, he mainly played up top. He has good passing skills and can make precise passes to runners on the touchline and to overlapping players. His quick runs to open spaces allow him to get into scoring range, and he was rewarded with a goal when another forward got behind the defense and slid him a smooth cross pass to the goalkeeper. Alex made a nice one-touch shot to put his team up 3-0. He is also a creative player in the mid, as he made quick passing combinations to diagonal runners in the attacking third. He plays club soccer for Bay Area Surf.

Did well under pressure. He made hard 50/50 challenges and made quick transitions on offense. Anticipated runners trying to slip through the center and plugged them or pushed the attack to the outside. He made some quick and precise passes near the 18-yard box to slashing runners. Subsequently, he received one and one back and hit a rocket shot to get his team to 2 goals.

Was active on both ends of the field. Plays comfortably on the touchline, makes decisive passes to diagonal runners, and sends quality crosses to the box. He got an assist on the 3rd goal. He has really good footwork and can change directions after baiting opponents to one side. I really liked how he didn't allow rough plays to change his style. He is definitely a part of his team's scoring success.

Came into this game with 8 clean sheets. Made good decisions when coming out to cut off runners slipping through the lanes. His quick decisions and shot-stopping abilities kept at least 3 goals off the board. I really like how he made quick counterattack plays to runners in the channels. He definitely is part of the reason why only 16 goals were conceded.
