Generation Adidas Cup Girl's Division

It was a great day for spectators at Generation Adidas cup Thursday. Both games happened simultaneously with the Girls Academy All-Stars playing against each other on one field and Bayern Munich playing Manchester City on the other. The Girls Academy All-Stars game was very competitive while Manchester City dominated Bayern Munich on the other field. The Girl's Academy teams are split in two with one team called GA Blue and the other GA Red. You'd think that would mean one team would wear blue and one team would wear red. Not the case unfortunately, GA Blue was wearing white and GA Red was wearing black. Both teams are stacked with talent. Wouldn't it be cool if we had a Girl's Academy All-Star team go against an ECNL All-Star team? Would be a fun watch. There were many standout performers from the games today: The Lamorinda star continued her good form after scoring a goal yesterday against Manchester City. She has been in multiple USYNT camps for a reason. She has an incredible engine, really good ball control and might be the best one-time passer I've encountered. She's so good at redirecting the ball into her teammates path or their feet. Top player with a high ceiling that will have top schools vying for her services. Walsh scored a goal and was chosen to captain her side. Her goal came from an assist from her co-captain Brooklyn St James as the she played the ball across goal that Walsh blasted home. Unfortunately it wasn't enough for the red squad as they lost 2-1. Still plenty to play for as a win on Saturday will most likely get them a rematch in the final. She's a star plain and simple. She is one of the strongest players I've ever seen. Loves a physical battle and won every single one today. Gets a lot of separation from defenders in a short amount of time. Amazing first step. Tophat is a top club and has produced one of the best players in the country. Loved her energy, really competitive and scrappy right back from GA Celtic. She's a hard nosed tackler and good dribbler. She was smart on the ball and had good defensive footwork. Fulton is super athletic flies around the field. She is great at winning the ball in midfield and driving forward with the ball. Solid decision maker and is not scared to put her body on the line for her team. Fearless player with a lot of upside. Sorg scored an absolute cracker from long range. She got the ball about 25 yards out from goal and smashed the ball into the bottom corner with a powerful shot. On top of scoring a great goal she also had a great individual performance as she was tidy in possession and pressed defenders with real purpose. Really impressed with her tenacity and desire to win. Had a couple of last man saving tackles where she tracked the ball down from through balls and just beat out opposing attackers to the ball. She tackles hard and must be a nightmare to play against. Another stud coming out of Lamorinda GA. She has an incredible burst of speed. Showing why she is ranked so highly in the state of Ohio. I was blown away by this girls ability to get on the end of anything. When you combine that speed with the ability to dribble; that is a dangerous combination and that is exactly what Hejduk did today. Absolute beast of an athlete playing up front for Manchester City today. Bayern had no answer for her. She ran in behind with ease and scored a good goal that ended up being the game winner. Social media sensation and England international scored a great goal against Bayern. She is a fantastic player with a professional contract in her future I am sure. Her father is an MMA world champion and you can see the toughness she possesses because of it.
