About Makayla

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I'm an attacking forward. I constantly pressure the defenders. If not in the gym, I'm working on speed, shooting and ball control on my off-practice nights. I love to use ball skills to work around the defense. I can shoot the ball with both my left and right foot with the same intensity.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am a very positive person. I'm most comfortable in high pressure games. Working hard with teammates through good and bad times makes me love this game even more. This beautiful game has taught me so much already.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am in a club called Avid at my school. It teaches and promotes how to be a leader.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

This year I am training young girls in soccer to get them to the level and performance they want to be at. I also was told by a coach that a girl from a lower division team had been watching me play. Her parents reached out to my father to see if she could train with me. I now work with her on Tuesdays (an off night) to help her succeed on the field.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I have not had any significant challenges. What I consider challenging is eating healthy and making good decisions on and off the field. What I do find challenging is making enough time for soccer, studies and family.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking to play D1 soccer in college. I would also like a school with a good physical therapist program. My goal is to play professional soccer.

She is an electric attacking talent. Lightning quick with the ball at her feet, she’s a standout at the Girls Academy level. Union KC enjoyed a successful preseason campaign and will be counting on Gail’s consistent contributions to the final third to have another playoff run in the GA this season.
