The Washington State HS District and State Tournaments have been flying by this year. They have been chocked full of dominate wins and major upsets. Exactly what we want to see as we inch closer to the State Title games!

We will not have a repeat State Champion in 2025 in the 4A class. Lake Stevens was unable to fend off the relentless attack of the Issaquah Eagles in the semifinal round and lost in convincing fashion. The Eagles scored 6 goals on the Vikings and thwarted their back-to-back State Title run. Some amazing athletes like senior GK [player_tooltip player_id='273293' first='Tessa' last='Anastasi'] and junior forward [player_tooltip player_id='111353' first='Noelani' last='Tupua'] will be taking their talents to the collegiate level in the coming years. That doesn't help the sting right now, but they have bright futures ahead. Lake Stevens will be back in the mix next season as they have many talented returners.

Woodinville was another elite squad that played in last season's State Title match that did not move past the quarterfinals. The Falcons lost in PKs due to an extraordinary effort by Tahoma's GK, [player_tooltip player_id='111528' first='Simone' last='Bennett'], who saved multiple shots to send them to the semis! Woodinville's senior class was stacked, and they will be relying on some young talent over the next few years to get them back to the top.

Here is a look at today's semifinal matches:

#3 Skyview v. #2 Tahoma

The Skyview Storm have been on a tear this season only conceding 10 goals in 21 matches. The are a young and talented team looking to make a name for themselves. The Storm has an abundance of goal scorers. [player_tooltip player_id='319456' first='Reese' last='Harrison'] and [player_tooltip player_id='341631' first='Miley' last='Baldwin'] find themselves on the scoreline consistently. Both are attacking minded and have an eye for goal and can give opposing defenses problems. On the defensive front, [player_tooltip player_id='341634' first='Suki' last='Mohammadi'], keeps matches close and is a standout defensive athlete. The Storm will lean on their recent successes versus top ranked opponents to push them over the top.

Tahoma has met Skyview before, in the District Finals just 2 weeks ago! The Bears pulled off the 1-0 victory to secure their District 3/4 4A title and send them on this fabulous run through State. 1st Team All-League standouts [player_tooltip player_id='223639' first='Kate' last='Spangler'] and [player_tooltip player_id='198175' first='Elizabeth' last='Wiggs'] will be roaming both ends of the pitch to both score goals and defend against Skyview's best. Goalkeeper [player_tooltip player_id='111528' first='Simone' last='Bennett'] is the backbone of their team. She has been in the trenches in the most pivotal moments of their season and came out on top. Tahoma will look to her again to get them the opportunity to play for a State Title!

This match is going to be close, and they both will need to seek a spark from one of their Captains if they want to play for the WIAA State Championship on Saturday!

#12 Mount Si v. #1 Issaquah

The Wildcats come into this match as the underdog but if you look at their lineup, they are anything but. When you have the goal scoring prowess of 1st Team All-League forward, [player_tooltip player_id='121230' first='Megan' last='Ulrich'] and the Arkansas commit, GK [player_tooltip player_id='124864' first='Emily' last='Jenkins'] between the posts, you are going to have a tough match ahead. Roaming the midfield will be [player_tooltip player_id='341633' first='Reese' last='Stanley'], who has piled up her own accolades throughout her career and is tough on opposing midfielders. Mount Si has the potential for big things, and they just may shock the world.

The Issaquah Eagles have been literally dominating their opponents all season. They have scored 21 goals in the last 5 postseason matches while only conceding 2. That is a wild stat. They have a roster full of 1st Team All-League recipients that control the headlines and control the outcomes on the pitch. [player_tooltip player_id='28343' first='Molly' last='Fordham'] has had an amazing career scoring goals for the Eagles. She will be called upon today to do the same. Seniors [player_tooltip player_id='140261' first='Ella' last='Benders'] and [player_tooltip player_id='28132' first='Catherine' last='Kovats'] leave it all out their every match and are consistent game changers. The talented Sophomore, [player_tooltip player_id='111411' first='Sadie' last='Stetler'], will be someone to watch as she solidifies herself as a young, 'go to' player on the Eagles roster.

This match has Issaquah's name written all over it BUT do not count out the Wildcats just yet. They can easily claw their way into the 4A State Title game on Sunday with sheer grit, talent and determination!
