The winter season has started in the Southeast, and the Southwest states of Arizona and California start play this week. Each week throughout December and January, we will add an additional 10 or more players to the PrepSoccer.net Winter All-America Watch List. Here are the next 10 to start the season: GK Arianna Beddoes, Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep (Calif.), Jr. If Sacred Heart Cathedral can hang with the league frontrunners, it likely will be on the shoulders of Beddoes. She is a member of the Under-17 National Team for Wales. M/F [player_tooltip player_id="19702" first="Kelsey" last="Branson"], Cathedral Catholic (Calif.), Sr. Branson, a San Diego Surf player, had a breakout weekend, scoring seven goals as Cathedral Catholic won the Butch Lee Memorial Tournament. Cathedral Catholic won the event in 2019, as well. The event was not held in 2020. Branson’s play has helped Cathedral Catholic to a 7-0 start. D [player_tooltip player_id="20248" first="Stella" last="Etcheverry"], St. Ignatius (Calif.), Jr. It’s often to ID standout defenders in the preseason as so much attention is given to attacking players. However, in this case, Etcheverry already has made a name for herself. The St. Ignatius junior also already has committed to UC Santa Barbara. F [player_tooltip player_id="33291" first="Jordan" last="Geis"], Archbishop Mitty (Calif.), So. Geis is a top California prospect for the Class of 2024, and will be ranked among the nation’s most prized players. She had a goal and one assist in her season debut with Archbishop Mitty. F Zamiyah Hill, Mosley (Fla.), So. Hill is a strong, athletic attacking player who will garner major-college attention. She scored 18 goals in Mosley’s first seven matches as the tam got off to a 6-1 start. She is the daughter of former ACC long jump champion Zyris Hill. M [player_tooltip player_id="27306" first="Theresa" last="McCullough"], Grapevine (Texas), Jr. McCullough had a monster showing in 2021, earning first-team all-state and District 6-5A co-MVP honors, despite only being a sophomore. She finished with 24 goals and 29 assists. Grapevine reached the Class 5A state semifinals, where the team lost to Wakeland 3-2. McCullough assisted on both Grapevine goals. D/M [player_tooltip player_id="21348" first="Morgan" last="McDonald"], Bartram Trail (Fla.), Sr., Florida Atlantic McDonald has played a vital role in Bartram’s Trail’s rise to No. 5 in this week’s FAB 50. She’s a defensive midfielder, and on that end has shutout wins over the likes of Montverde Academy, Doral Academy, and Lakeland Christian. Bartram Trail has allowed only two goals in a 10-0 start. But it’s not all defense for McDonald, who got into the offensive mode this week with two goals in a 5-0 victory over Ponte Vedra. McDonald was named to the WIST All-Tournament team after the squad’s 2-0 showing at the event.
F/M [player_tooltip player_id="26750" first="Hadley" last="Murrell"], Prosper (Texas), Sr., Oklahoma
Murrell is another reason why Prosper has high expectations for 2022. She is the returning District 5-6A MVP following a 37-goal, 20-assist showing in 2021. She has been part of Youth National Team virtual training camps. F [player_tooltip player_id="32923" first="Elle" last="Piper"], Valley Christian (Calif.), Sr., Duke Valley Christian is off to a 3-0 start and could make a run at Archbishop Mitty for league honors behind Piper’s play. GK [player_tooltip player_id="27146" first="Olivia" last="Ramey"], Frisco Memorial (Texas), Jr., Oklahoma Ramey was named to the Dallas Morning News All-Area first-team following a 14 shutout season. She allowed only five goals in 18 matches last season as Memorial went 16-3-3. [table id=144 /]
