ECNL San Diego Standouts

To accommodate for hurricane Rachel we had a double game day where games were 50 minutes each. Not ideal but given the circumstances it was for the best and ECNL did a fantastic job to make sure that things were moving smoothly. Parts of the day were quite windy and rainy while other were calmer. Overall it was pretty good conditions for some footy with temperatures never going about 80 degrees. There were some excellent performances today although granted with a limited sample size as teams were making sure that their rosters were able to get as much playing time as possible. Here were some players who caught my eye today:

Dominguez is a half turn queen this central midfielder can spin on the ball in any situation even with all kinds of pressure on her back. She drives forward with real purpose and intent. Slipping her teammates through or unleashing a shot with real venom. She played a big role in her San Diego Surf side winning both games and advancing to the final on Monday.

Dominant defensive force that in my book is the top defender in this 2030 class. She has everything she's listed at 5'8 here but looks more like 6'0 now, elite speed, incredible on ball decision making and an excellent communicator. I think national team call ups and NWSL trials are in her near future. If she keeps improving the top schools in the country will be competing for her services.

What a showing for Valadao today especially in the second game against Mustang where she scored two lovely goals. A natural instinctual finisher who had others on the sideline in awe. She got on the end of a ton of through balls with her well timed runs. She was a menace to deal with for both [program_tooltip program_id='283257' first='Bay' last='Area Surf'] in the morning and Mustang in the afternoon.

Another incredible talent on this San Diego Surf side who haven't even tied a game let alone lost in an incredible two years. And when you watch this team play you can see why. Stirm is an energizer bunny in midfield with excellent technique and forward instincts. She got on the scoresheet today and was a problem for both of the oppositions defense she faces today to deal with.

Every time she touched the ball today she looked dangerous. She doesn't do a bunch of scissors or stepovers or maradonnas but she is incredibly efficient and always seems to get a step in her 1 v 1 matchups. I believe she is best dribbler in the 2030 class and when you combine that with an elite work rate you're going to get a special young player in the future.

Big time athletic profile out of Placer. Tall, coordinated, good burst of speed and great overall athlete. She battled against Rebels today and made a couple of last ditch tackles that really impressed me. She flashed a couple of excellent stop and goes that created space for a handful of lovely crosses that her teammates almost scored on. She then scored herself on a well taken cross from the other side. Plethora of moves to get out of trouble and a good burst of speed to get away from it.

I love a kid that plays with a big fat smile on her face and that's exactly what Walker does. Very physically gifted, strong, fast and intimidating. Seems to have a real nose for goal and an excellent first touch. Chew holds the ball up extremely well and can get away from pressure with the ball. Amazing footwork she got out of double teams on a number of occasions while I was watching.
