The Girls Academy Spring Showcase continued on Friday with the U17/05 joining the action. The sidelines from the games were pretty crowded on Friday as a number of college coaches were in attendance.

From the games broadcast, there were a number of players who had statement performances from the fixtures including a few under-recruited players who made highlight reel performances from the games. PrepSoccer highlights some of the performances from Friday’s games at the Girls Academy Spring Showcase.

Delaney Evers, Beadling 05 GA - Evers was a bright spot for Beading in the game on Friday. The winger is dynamic and active. She scored a goal in the first half as she got on the ball after Michigan State commit [player_tooltip player_id="33230" first="Samantha" last="Miller"] knocked down an aerial duel. Evers is a top uncommitted prospect from Pennsylvania. She has pace to get past the defense, but she also has skill and likes to take on players on the dribble. She is very good at playing slip passes with the outside of her foot. There were quite a few college coaches who stopped and took notice of the Beading 05 squad on the day and Evers put in an impressive shift on the right wing - including her effort defensively for her side. There are a couple of little things in her game to improve on before she reaches the next level including keeping better balance in duels so she doesn’t lose body control against stronger players. Improvements in those small areas will make her the type of winger that coaches refuse to take off the field.

[player_tooltip player_id="33230" first="Samantha" last="Miller"], Beadling 05 GA - Miller is going to be a player to watch in the Big Ten in the future. She is a target forward who can play with her back to the goal. She is good at holding off defenders and linking up with her teammates. She is a lethal finisher when given the chance. There are a lot of elements to her game that should translate well to the next level.

Desiree Zapata, Sporting Delaware 05 - There are going to be a lot of coaches interested in the forward from Sporting Delaware from the class of 2024 - her performance is an even more impressive considering she is an 06 playing up an age group. She has all of the qualities that college coaches look for from the center forward position in a dynamic attacking trio system. She has the pace to get in behind the defense. She has the skill to make passes in tight areas. Her play set up a goal for Sporting Delaware with Brady Robert getting the finishing touch on the goal. Zapata showed enough on Friday to be considered one of the top center forward prospects in the 2024 class. The potential is there for a four-year starter at the Division I level.

Audrey Choi, Sockers 05 GA - Choi was one of the most surprising players of the day. I have not heard much about her going into the game again Albion on Friday, but she stood out immediately. The way she scans the field before receiving the ball is really impressive. She is never tuned out of the game, she is always looking for information and checking to see where her team can take advantage of the opposition. She instructed her teammates on where to pass the ball with hand motions. She was clean in possession with a good first touch and made some quick decisions on the ball. Choi is a name that is going to get a lot of attention after this event as a top midfielder from Illinois in the class of 2023.

Milan Cordone, Albion SC LV 05 - Cordone had a terrific assist early in the second half on the goal from Daphne Egelhoff. She slipped the ball wide to Egelhoff after she drew the attention of the defense with her charging run through the center. Albion did a good job in the second in crowding Sockets out of playing through the center. Cordone was a good outlet when Albion won possession of the ball. She has good skill on the ball and can get her way out of pressure. She had a tendency to force the key pass on Friday, but being aggressive in possession led to the goal.

Rachel Arcella, Albion SC LV 05 - Arcella won so many tackles in the center of the field in the second half that it felt like there were two #99 on the field at one point. She was everywhere and always winning the duel. The 2023 recruit could feature as a center back or as a defensive midfielder. She is right-footed but seems comfortable with both feet in her receiving and passing. She has the size and strength to compete at the college level immediately. If she becomes more of a presence on set pieces, she will take her game to another level.

Amina Marin, Sockers FC 05 - Marin is a good on-ball defender from outside back. She competes hard especially when she is within contact of the attacker. She uses her body well and is aggressive in putting in challenges. She played left back on Friday and did well in the attack as well as defensively.

Jenna Grider, Albion SC SD 05 - Grider, a defender, scored a great goal in the game against West Florida Flames on Friday. She tracked the flight of the ball well on a corner kick and met it with a powerful header. Grider was solid defensively and found herself in the right places to cut out passes. She looks like a center back, probably a right-footed left center back, at the next level. Southern Utah did a good job scouting her early as they landed her verbal commitment earlier this year. Her performance on Friday attracted the attention of more programs - strong in the challenge, aerial weapon on set pieces, she has the tools to be an all-conference contributor for SUU in the future.

Elyse Lotarski, West Florida Flames 05 - West Florida Flames struck quickly on the counter and Lotarski was a major reason why. The left winger had an extra gear even past full speed that allowed her to get behind the defense and create some chances for her side. She had a terrific assist in the game on the goal to Ezra Carpenter. Lotarski is a winger with pace who likes to get to the endline and create havoc either on the dribble on with her passing to late runners into the box. She is a winger to know from the 2023 class.

Teagan Downs, Colorado Rush 05 - The Rush team looked sharp from the start in the game on Friday. Downs impressed in all facets of the game. She was crucial defensively with a couple of tackles to stop the attack. She was called for a foul on a penally kick but goalkeeper [player_tooltip player_id="20364" first="Rebecca" last="Winton"] made an outstanding save on the shot from the spot. Downs relies a bit too much on her athleticism at times when putting in tackles. She has plenty of pace and can chase down defenders, but that will get more difficult at the next level. On the ball, she was calm and showed good vision in picking out passes through the center channel to start the attack for Rush. Downs looks like a player who could be a center back or a left back at the next level that type of versatility is a big asset for the college game.

[player_tooltip player_id="20521" first="Hadley" last="Linder"], Colorado Rush 05 - Rush’s midfield dominated most of the game on Friday. The 3-4-3 formation offered plenty of opportunities for each of them to shine and some near passing combinations all over the field. Linder earned the shoutout for her goal with her left foot. She looked stuck in the corner with possession of the ball, but she showed her ability with her off-foot on the shot. She is a two-footed prospect from the center midfield position in the class of 2024. She has a very high ceiling thanks to the skill with both feet. She is a 360-degree player.
