Despite not receiving a promotion to ECNL or getting into the Girls Academy, the players for the 2005 Diablo Valley Wolves team never wavered in their commitment, and it is paying off.

This group has been together for a very long time, and it shows in their friendship, camaraderie, and in their results. They finished in the top two of the NPL Capitol Division last year, playing in the ECNL Regional League in the spring, and are currently sitting in first place again and look to be headed back to that next spring.

The girls, who are from different parts of California, have stayed together because they have done well, they enjoy being together and they are a very tight-knit group.

This group, led by Los Medanos women's head coach Zach Sullivan, features five girls who have really stood out lately.

Emily Beeson, Forward

Beeson is very much a target striker and a true No. 9. She is one of those goal scorers who always put themselves in good positions to score, and finds a way to get the job done and put the ball in the back of the net. She works hard, has a great attitude.

Julianna Colchico, Central Midfielder

Colchico is a 2006 who is playing up and she generally tag-teams the middle of the pitch with Jackie Tamayo (see below) as they can switch off between one playing attacking midfield and the other playing centrally.

Tylin Norman, Keeper

Norman is a very strong presence in goal and a very capable player to go along with it. She organizes her defenders well, and she makes big saves when called upon. There are games where she doesn't get challenged a lot, but she never switches off and is always ready when called on.

Erika Salazar, Defender

Salazar is a player who can play both centrally or out wide in the defensive back line. She is a very fast defender, making it easy for her to move up the wings if playing outside, or to keep up with attackers in the middle of the pitch. She is good in 1v1 situations and displays good vision when playing the ball out of the back.

Jackie Tamayo, Central Midfielder

Tamayo is the heartbeat of the group. The spiritual engine, if you will. She is a great leader on and off the pitch. As a player, she is a very talented midfielder who is very clean on the ball and shows great vision. She will be playing in college next year as she is being recruited by several programs. Tamayo is interchangeable between the No. 8 and No. 10 spot.
