Arana is the main offensive weapon of the Rise SC 08 team that ranked seventh in the Texas Conference with eight wins, five losses and four ties, earning a ticket to face San Diego Surf, Sporting Nebraska FC and Atlanta Fire United in the Champions League playoffs. He can play multiple roles up top, having the physical tools to make holdup plays as a striker and the dribbling skills and movement to play as a second forward. Arana does some great body fakes and is really difficult to defend in tight spaces with his ability to make quick moves. He can also be used on the wing, using his dribbling skills to beat defenders off the dribble.

Arana was a constant threat to Solar’s backline with his mobility and quality on the ball. He started the match playing the striker role, but needed more space to make plays and dropped back to play as a second forward and eventually as a left winger. He was very strong in 1v1 plays and used his body extremely well to beat defenders, making quick turns and fakes. Arana kept pushing during the entire match and attempted to create chances with long-distance shots and combination plays. He drew the free kick that resulted in the team’s second goal.

Arana is a center forward for Rise SC. He has been a prolific prospect in the attacking third at the MLS Next 08 level. He is right-footed, uses body fakes really well, and gets into the right spots to finish. He is not a breakaway speedster, but he is effective because he times his runs well and plays off the shoulder of the defender. He is strong in his lower body and tough to knock off the ball. He is good at letting the ball run across his body while forcing the defender to dive in if they want to knock the ball of him. Arana’s crafty game has been a standout for Rise this season and led to him scoring a number of goals against MLS academies.
