Crawford will be between the posts for Cypress Ranch when they face Stratford in their first match in the Spartan Bracket. She’s getting better every year and is certainly among the most promising goalkeepers in the Houston area. Crawford has an interesting mix of skills as she’s explosive, technical, calm and very intelligent with her actions between the posts. She handles crosses as well as anyone and is a phenomenal penalty kick-stopper. The junior also plays an important leadership role with the Mustangs, keeping strong communication with her defenders.

Crawford and her Challenge SC RL 08 team went undefeated in the event, winning all their three matches in College Station. Things didn’t start well for her as Challenge allowed three goals in the first half of their opening match against Classics Elite RL 08, but after that, she went five consecutive halves without conceding. In the event, it was easy to see that Crawford continues to get better between the posts, adding a great deal of maturity to her technical skills and improving her decision-making. She was very reliable with her actions and did a very good job when dealing with crosses.

It was an even match, but Bridgeland probably had the best opportunities to score the game-winning goal and Crawford denied them time and time again. The sophomore goalkeeper was extremely reliable every time she was called upon, leaving the goal to deal with crosses and long passes and also working between the posts, most notably getting a stop in a close-range finish from Maddy Benker in the final minutes of the match. Crawford was only beaten from the penalty kick spot and even got a hand on the first one, but couldn’t stop it. She also communicated extremely well with her defenders and helped keep things organized in the back for the Lady Mustangs.

In her second season with Cypress Ranch, Crawford will be one of the key pieces of the team. She’s very calm and efficient between the posts and offers a lot of stability to the team. One of Crawford’s main strengths is her ability to collect or deflect crosses inside the penalty box – she reads the trajectory of the ball extremely well and moves well inside the penalty box. She’s very safe with her actions between the posts and also does a very good with putting the ball back in play with quickness and efficiency.
