About Ava

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I play a possession game. Play with my head up and look to take my space or find the open player. I'm a quick and technically player who creates opportunities for others but also can find my own shot. I have good vision and can play the through ball.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am focused and have been told that I am very coachable. I am a happy and positive person that gets along with everyone. I also try to have a short memory especially when I make a mistake and learn and do better next time.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am part of the El Salvadorian Women's National Team I am involved in FCA (fellowship of Christian Athletes) and HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America).

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

My faith is a big part of my life. It keeps me mentally strong, helps me overcome negative thoughts, and gives me the strength to be there for my teammates when needed. Soccer has many mental ups and downs, and I try to be a spiritual leader, lifting my teammates when they need encouragement.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I was a starter and when I told my old team I was leaving they started benching me. I had to be mentally strong and cheer my team and not let negative thought in. In high school soccer and club soccer I have been injured. I have needed to find strength and be there for my teammates. Most of my challenges have been mentally. That is when I look to god for strength.

What type of college are you looking for?

D1 school that plays out of the back, plays a passing & possession game. A school that is looking for a technical midfielder and values hard work and family.
