About Ava

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Technical player with a high soccer IQ and vision. Strong composure even under the pressure of the game. Distribution of perfectly weighted line-breaking passes. I pride myself on my first touch and my ability to create scoring opportunities for myself and teammates

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Composed and technical player. I maintain my composure under the high pressure situations and games. I am highly coachable and look for continuous growth opportunities.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am part of Southside Church’s youth group and the Starr’s Mill FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes). I have received honor roll at Starr’s Mill High School

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

As a starting Freshman on the Varsity high school soccer team it has helped me develop my leadership skills in a team environment. Playing on a top Girls Academy club team with National title has made teamwork a must, without the teamwork we would not be anywhere as successful as we are.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Maintaining high GPA while playing on a high level club team as well as high school team is extremely challenging and requires a lot of self discipline.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a top college that offers courses I’m interested in for my future, but also a college that values me as a person, student, and player. I want to play soccer at a school I love attending

Ava Slater plays as a defender for TopHat 11G GA Gold. She plays as a wingback and does well to join the attack when opportunities are available. Her style of play is consistent, and her awareness is higher than the average player.

Slater is hard-working, and she reads the game well. Defensively, she stays connected with the back line and manages her marks well. Ava can win the ball and shows that she can connect the next pass to begin possession for her team.

Going forward, Slater does well to read the game and make well-timed runs to join in the attack. Notably, Ava showed that she can deliver accurate crosses and create goal-scoring opportunities. Overall, Ava Slater is a strong, left-footed wingback that delivers on her defensive responsibilities and brings a positive addition in the attack.
