Adams displayed a very complete game and led the line for the Columbus Crew up top. Because of his size and his strength, he operates well as a target striker, getting on the end of long passes and playing with his back to the goal. Adams has the skills and the vision to drop back and combine with his teammates and can also hurt defenses by making short runs with the ball in the final third. He also knows his way inside the penalty box and often finds himself in good positions to score.

Playing as a target forward Adams showed why he is one of the top prospects in the state of Ohio. He found space dropping off the defensive line receiving the ball and quickly finding his teammates in space. As the game went on and opened up he started stretching the field more showing an ability to beat a defender one on one in space. His work on and off the ball was rewarded with a nice headed goal as well as an assist as the Crew advance.
