Watching Shin play is a pure joy, and she reciprocates that joy in how she plays. You can see the energy, passion and drive from the sideline or watching her tape. Shin weaves through traffic with such grace and ease, as she makes No. 6’s and defenders look like they are chasing shadows. She’s a clinical finisher and has a very strong and accurate left foot and if she is able to get the ball on to that foot, look out. The way she operates in space is neat and tidy, and she is very clever when it comes to continuing her run after playing a ball and finding space. Shin goes to Mira Costa High and will be playing after high school at UC Irvine.

It feels like Fiona Shin Fiona Shin F/M State #156 Nation CA is just scratching the surface for her potential. The Beach FC 07 ECNL team has been a breakout star during this campaign – and is a team to watch in the playoffs this summer. Shin is an attacking midfielder/winger. She is a goal-hungry player who is a ruthless finisher. When she is out wide, she likes to play on the right and cut inside to put the ball on her left foot. She has pace with the ball at her feet so she immediately forces the defense to retreat. Once in the open field, she is great at scanning quickly and going through her options. She is a good passer and an efficient finisher. Shin is going to end up at a top, top program at the next level and be an immediate contributor. The level she has shown in the past year in the ECNL suggests she should be getting more looks at the national team level.
