Wilson stepped up to help a shorthanded Challenge team by moving up from her original center back position to play as a defensive midfielder. She had no issues playing higher up in the field and was very active defensively, covering ground and winning duels in the middle, making things more difficult for Sting’s playmakers. Wilson, who also spent some minutes at center back, also displayed good quality in possession, connecting good passes, even when under pressure.

Wilson was a rock on Challenge’s defense, getting the better of Sting’s attackers for most of the match. She used her physical tools extremely well to win the ball back and stop plays, but also thrived with her positioning, making several interceptions and never being caught out of position. Wilson was particularly important to her team in the final minutes of the match, when Sting made a late push looking for an equalizer and her aerial ability helped Challenge clear the ball from the penalty box. She also supported the hosts’ offense with long passes and by taking long free kicks.

Wilson is one of the central defenders of Challenge SC G06. She forms a strong partnership with Sydnee Smith as the two complement each other very well, bringing different skills to the game. While Smith is the most mobile and dynamic of the two, Wilson is very physical and strong and does an excellent job of protecting the penalty box. She’s very strong in the air, having great success when dealing with crosses, but is also very tough to beat in 1v1 situations because of her great positioning and her ability to read opponents and force them to wider positions. She’s also very comfortable on the ball and supports the team’s buildup.
