Lara showed today that he is not only the top player in California but he is one of the top players in the world in his age group. Going into this game against Barcelona I think many people were expecting La Masia to beat the Quakes easily. This is not how the game went. Lara scored a lovely goal to open the scoring getting on the end of a through ball rounding the goalkeeper and slotting home. He nearly scored again in almost identical fashion except he hit the post from a tighter angle. Lara also had a goal disallowed late that in my opinion shouldn’t of been. This kid is a special young talent. The Quakes were unlucky not to win this one in normal time but they did get the win on PK’s earning an extra point.

The superstar Earthquakes talent showed why there is so much hype around him as he was playing on the left wing. The ball always seemed to find him. He wasn’t as dominant as I have seen him in the past but still a class above the rest. I will be utterly shocked if he wasn’t called back.

Lara has been making noise for some time in MLS Next. Earning playing time while playing up an age group has been the standard for the Earthquakes standout. Listed as an attacking midfielder on his player profile, he appears more often in a winger role. He likes to play on the left wing and cut inside onto his right. He’s a skillful dribbler who has a knack for controlling the pace – his start/stop move is an effective tool in his kit for creating space and utilizing his options on the ball.
Lara has emerged as not only a top name in California, but also in the country in this age group. He should be one to watch as a top attacking talent for years to come.

is the best 2011 in the state of California and maybe the entire country. This kid can flat out ball ladies and gentlemen. The Earthquakes have an absolute diamond. Let’s hope that the recent club turmoil and loss of coaches does not hinder this kid’s development. He scored another hat-trick while playing up for the Quakes academy against SVSA. He gets hacked all game by opposing teams and it doesn’t seem to bother him one bit. Put him on your lists.

The San Jose Earthquakes star was at it again this past weekend. Another outstanding performance playing up for the 2010’s Quakes squad. He was the best player on the field against and got an excellent assist against Lamorinda in a 1-0 win.
