Guilherme Torres | Prep Soccer Scout
An U17 Haiti international, Bretous was one of the key players in Atlanta United’s championship-winning campaign in Frisco. His range and efficiency in the midfield were invaluable to the team as he was able to make a major impact in the game from his defensive midfielder role. Bretous is very active and engaged defensively, using his physical tools and his ability to win balls to dismantle offensive plays from opponents. He’s also a big part of the team’s buildup, often dropping into pockets of space around the center backs to get on the ball and initiate plays. Bretous is very skilled on the ball, using both feet very well to pass and dribble, and is very hard to dispossess.

Much of Atlanta United’s tight victory over Florida Rush was built in the midfield and Bretous had a lot to do with it. He was dominant in his defensive midfielder role, shutting down several offensive attempts from his opponents and covering a lot of ground. Bretous used his physicality to be a force in the middle and was also very important when his team was in possession. He was very intelligent with his movement off the ball, always offering a passing outlet to his center backs and was frequently able to push the ball forward when he had it. The defensive midfielder also proved to be very resourceful, turning to creative solutions and improvising when we was under pressure.

Julian Bretous Julian Bretous M State #76 Nation GA is one of the most exciting players in the state of Georgia. He is the aforementioned prospect who jumped from NTH-Nasa to Atlanta United in the off-season. Atlanta United is picking up a center midfielder with a very high ceiling. He is a do-everything type of prospect. He is silky smooth on the ball (comfortable dribbling with either foot in traffic), and offers some creativity in the final third. He is competitive with a high-engine. He has the body and framework to be a professional-level prospect. There is still a long road ahead for the 2025 recruit, but the showing he had last season during the ECNL National Playoffs suggest the potential is there.
