Expert Analysis
Guilherme Torres | Prep Soccer Scout
Playing against a very organized Orlando defense, Walsh didn’t have many chances in the match, but he converted the one he had. He did well in that play, not keeping the ball for too long and using a powerful shot to find the back of the net. Not getting much service, Walsh dropped back to get involved in plays and did a good job when working with his back to the goal. He was also very active and intense with his press, leading Orlando players to turn the ball over on a couple of occasions.

The forward scored both of Dynamo’s goals in the match and was their most dangerous attacking player. Walsh didn’t get much service during the first half and made the most of the only chance he had, doing a great job of following the play to pick up the loose ball and showing calm to finish it. He got his second goal in somewhat of a half-chance too, using his physical tools to knock an RSL defender out of the ball and sending it to the back of the net with a difficult left-footed shot. Walsh moved well in the final third and did a good job of being available for his teammates with his constant running.

Walsh had an outstanding performance in the match, getting directly involved in five of his team’s six goals and scoring three of them. The forward showed great calm and composure in front of the goal and converted the three chances he had with well-placed shots. Walsh had been very active up top for the Dynamo since the start of the match, consistently making runs behind the backline and moving in the final third to get on the ball and create space for his teammates. He was especially successful when he dropped deeper to get on the ball, using his vision to find teammates in great positions, like he did when assisting for the team’s fifth goal. Walsh also kept his intensity level high during the entire match, doing a good job of pressing opposing defenders and chasing long passes.

The forward came in after the halftime break and did a good job of getting involved in the Dynamo’s offensive plays in the second half. Walsh played as a center forward, but moved very constantly and efficiently in the final third, always offering a passing option to his teammates. He also displayed good ability to operate in tight spaces around the penalty box, shielding the ball to keep possession and connecting quick, intelligent passes. He made a great run to score the team’s fourth goal, attacking the near post and beating a Rangers defender for the ball.
