Guilherme Torres | Prep Soccer Scout
Torkin led the line for the GFI Academy team that qualified after finishing first in Group Q with three wins. A center forward, he’s one of the most prolific goal scorers in Texas, being one of those attacking players who always find a way to get the ball into the back of the net. Torkin is very intelligent with his positioning inside the box and finishes very well with both feet and his head. He also makes an impact when operating outside the box, handling physical duels, being capable of dribbling in tight spaces and showing excellent vision to deliver passes out on the wings.

The forward didn’t get much service, but made the most of what he had to work with. With the Dynamo pressing high, GFI had issues structuring their offensive plays, and Torkin dropped back to help with that on some occasions. He was very dangerous in transition plays, attacking the space behind the backline with strong runs. He drew a penalty kick in one of those runs and capitalized on it, sending the Dynamo goalkeeper the wrong way to score his team’s only goal in the match, and had some other good moments using his pace to create problems.

Torkin came on in the first minutes of the second half and made a major impact, helping GFI translate their dominance into goals. The forward was excellent with his finishing, converting the first two chances he had by showing calm and confidence inside the penalty box. Torkin consistently got into great spots in the final third and had a couple more opportunities, missing one of them as he tried to chip the ball over the goalkeeper and having a defender block his shot on the other. He also did well with his playmaking, dropping back to get on the ball and make plays and making strong runs on the right side of the penalty box.

The junior only played the first half, but had a good performance and was a constant threat to Katy’s backline. Torkin scored Cinco Ranch’s first goal with a beautiful shot from outside the box and had great duels with Katy’s center backs, occupying them. He was very strong in the air, winning many duels and scoring another goal, which was called off due to an offside. Torkin also stood out as a playmaker, dribbling the ball around the penalty box to create space and finding the wingers behind the backline with well-weighted passes.

GFI’s striker Torkin is a complete forward, who gets involved with many of the team’s offensive plays. He’s lethal inside the penalty box, displaying calm every time he gets the ball there to control it and quality to beat defenders in tight spaces with creative moves. Torkin, who also does very well when running behind the backline, is an excellent finisher who can fire accurate shots with either foot and who gets many goals with first-time shots, deflecting the ball into the right spots. He has interesting playmaking skills in his game too, dropping back to get on the ball and making runs through the middle or feeding the wingers with accurate diagonal, long passes.
