James Clark | Prep Soccer Scout
The Wisconsin commit leads her FC Dallas squad into the quarterfinal round boasting the best defensive performance of any of the remaining Elite 8 squads, helping record two shutouts and allowing only two goals in four matches in Seattle. Gilmore is going to be the stalwart for this Dallas backline and her efforts will go a long way in determining her squads fate.

Gilmore joined FC Dallas just a few days after helping the US win the Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Championship and helped her team beat the Portland Thorns 2-0 in their first match. She split time between center back and defensive midfielder duties and displayed a well-rounded game to thrive in both positions. Gilmore handled well the offensive attempts made by their opponents, stepping on their way to make stops and win the ball back. With FC Dallas heavily dominating possession and pushing the Thorns back, her passing was also useful offensively as she moved the ball well and also found some smart passes that broke lines and found teammates in good spots around the penalty box.

One of the top defenders in her age group in Texas, Gilmore will anchor the backline of FC Dallas G07 ECNL in the event. The center back has all the tools to dominate opponents, combining, size, quickness, great instincts and a very high soccer IQ. Gilmore is excellent in 1v-1 battles inside and around the penalty box, but also gets the job done when pulled to the midfield area, remaining calm and waiting for the right moment to make a move and win the ball back. She’s also a capable passer and often scores with headers off of corner kicks of free kicks in the attacking half.

Viewed as one of the most promising center backs of her generation, Gilmore is part of a strong FC Dallas G07 team. She’s wise beyond her years and one of her main strengths is her ability to cut corners and get to the ball before opposing forwards. She’s the type of center back that can shut down any kind of attacker as she has the physicality to deal with the stronger ones but also the pace and composure to stop dynamic wingers. Gilmore can also be an interesting offensive asset to her teams with her ability to break passing lines out of the back and her good positioning and calm in front of goal in set pieces.

A standout center back for FC Dallas ECNL G07, Gilmore is seeing her stock continue to rise in Texas. She’s a key piece in her team’s backline, delivering everything a coach would want from a center back. Gilmore has good size, is always in the right position to make plays and is very strong in her defensive actions. She’s excellent in 1v1 plays around the penalty box, but is also mobile and intelligent enough to chase attackers in deeper positions and make good plays to win the ball back. The center back is very calm and efficient on the ball, often picking good passes from the back, and also scores goals when she goes up for corners and set pieces.

A defender with a good combination of physical, technical and mental skills, Gilmore helped the defense of her FC Dallas 07 team be one of just a few to end the tournament unharmed. I watched her during their 2-0 victory against SLSG Navy 07, when she also scored the opening goal after a corner kick. Gilmore is a very complete defender, who uses her body well to win plays in tight spaces inside and around the penalty box, but is also very solid when she needs to track opponents higher up in the field.

is a standout center back for the FC Dallas 07 team. She was a key piece of the squad that won the 2022 Dallas Cup in April. She is a shutdown defender who can matchup against the best attacker. She is also very good on the ball and finds outlets quickly when gaining possession. Gilmore had a standout campaign in the ECNL last season, which earned her an invite to a U.S. Youth National Team ID Center in Dallas this year.
