Brakefield is one of the more impressive defenders from the 2025 class because she can do everything on the pitch. She can play a ball from the back, either over the top or break lines on the floor, she can push up and attack corner kicks with ferocious headers, and most of all, she can play physically as a defender and make life hard on attackers. She makes very strong challenges, she gets her timing right and she wins the ball. She is committed to Seattle University.

As a freshman, Kyla Brakefield Kyla Brakefield 5'11" | D Troy | 2025 State CA was the Freeway League Defensive Player of the Year and Freeway League All-First Team while playing for Troy. At the club level, she has been a standout for Slammers. She is a center back who is very difficult to get past. She is strong in the tackle and covers ground quickly. She is one to watch this season at the club and high school level.
