About Lucia

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Up until my Freshman year I have always been a Defensive Center Back. However, my High School coach moved me to attacking MF and so did the Coach of my new club team (TST 05). I feel my strengths are my speed combined with my foot skills, vision and creativity. I also feel my experience as a defender makes me a unique player in the midfield and can frequently win 50/50 balls.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m very focused and driven when it comes to my academics and the two sports that I play. My expectations are high for myself and I know I need to work hard to meet these. My friends may describe me as goofy and silly, but I can quickly shift to taking my school and sports seriously.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am part of several Clubs that my school offers and am a member of the National Honors Society. I also play for my High School basketball team.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

As I’ve grown through high school, I have enjoyed building relationships with the younger players. I won't forget how welcoming the upper classmen were when I was a Freshman. I’ve taken that practice and have applied that with the younger girls who’ve joined the team. I want them to feel welcome, motivated, and part of the team.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

The balance of being a two sport athlete with travel soccer in addition to school has been one of the biggest challenges to overcome. Managing the school load along with sports has been something I’ve worked hard on and have managed to maintain a 4.2 GPA. Being organized with my time is a life skill I’ve learned.

What type of college are you looking for?

I can see myself at a larger school with more of an urban feel, but that may very much change as I visit more schools. Wherever I land, I think it is important to have balance between school and sports. It’s a struggle at times as I also play High school basketball but I have managed to keep my GPA above a 4.0 while taking AP and Honors classes. This is my main objective for College as well.

Trautman is a midfielder on the DePaul College varsity team. She is a versatile player who could play a number of positions. Her contributions in the attack third this season suggest the quality be to be a No. 10 at the next level. Trautman is a bit an off-the-radar prospect as she isn’t part of one of the big nation-wide leagues or clubs. She has the physical profile and skill to jump out from game film at the high school level. She has potential to really impress some coaches during upcoming ID camps.
