Expert Analysis
Guilherme Torres | Prep Soccer Scout
Chamberlain is the second-best midfielder in our Rankings and appears as the eighth-best overall prospect in Texas in his age group. He’s a pillar for Austin FC in their U19 team that competes in the MLS Next League. A defensive midfielder, he’s very active off the ball, patrolling the center of the field with his high-intensity game and his ability to win duels. Chamberlain is probably even better in possession and one of the things that sets him apart in that category is his ability to operate under pressure, remaining calm and making quick moves to create spaces and leave opponents behind. The midfielder’s passing range is exceptional, and he can heavily impact the game with his ability to move the ball in the center of the field, but also find decisive passes in the final third.

After moving to Austin from San Diego during the 2023-2024 season, Chamberlain became a central piece in their team. A high-energy defensive midfielder, he does a great job of shutting opponents down while covering a lot of ground in the center of the field and timing his tackles extremely well. Chamberlain is also very skilled and productive in possession, passing the ball with tremendous intelligence and precision, both when it comes to moving it around or finding teammates in the final third, and making quick moves to beat opponents and create space in the center of the field. The midfielder also likes to step into the final third and is excellent at finishing chances from outside the box, often getting on the board with beautiful shots.

Chamberlain operated extremely well next to Ayala in midfield, bringing a lot of intensity and quality on the ball to the game. He was very active defensively, winning many duels in the center of the field and forcing the Dynamo to play wide to get into attack. Chamberlain was also very comfortable when he had the ball, distributing it well and displaying impressive quality to dribble through traffic, beating opponents with quick moves as he progressed on the field.
