Murphy switched clubs this season, moving to FC Dallas 06/05, and helped them get second place in the Texas Conference with 12 wins, one loss and two ties, qualifying for the Champions League. She’s an extremely consistent goalkeeper, who won’t have off days and will be there to make saves when her team needs her to. Because of how explosive she is when going for the ball, Murphy often makes some impressive, eye-catching saves, but it’s all about efficiency with her. That explosiveness, paired with incredible reflexes, also makes of her really tough goalie to beat in close-range situations.

DKSC is one of the few teams to only have one goalkeeper on the roster at the event. I’m sure they have an emergency field player who can step in if needed, but it speaks more to the trust those coaches have in Murphy. They know she is going to be on her game every day and especially on game day when she is serious from warm-ups to the final whistle. The DKSC squad finished the event with only three goals conceded from four games – and had one shutout. A lot of that credit should be distributed among the group as they were collectively excellent defending all over the field. Murphy came up with the save when needed though and helped her side book a spot in Richmond.

Murphy is one of the good names to emerge in the goalkeeper position in Texas over the last few years. She’s been having a very good season playing for DKSC G07 and will be instrumental in her team’s aspirations in San Diego. Murphy is a player that often impresses because of her ability to make acrobatic saves. She’s explosive when going to the ball and is great at fully stretching her body, which allows her to cover a larger area of the goal. The shot-stopper also does well dealing with short-distance finishes, displaying very good reflexes. She has a very positive attitude on the field too, one that you often find in the best players in her position.

Murphy has established herself as one of the most promising goalkeepers in Texas over the last couple of years and only continues to get better with DKSC 07. Her highlight reels tend to be pretty impressive because of her ability to make acrobatic saves, most of the time using only one of her hands. One of her main strengths is her ability to fully stretch her body and arms and get to balls you wouldn’t expect her to. Murphy is also very strong when dealing with point-blank finishes because of her quickness of movement. She’s very explosive between the posts and plays with a lot of passion and energy.

The goalkeeper position in this class is a bit of an enigma. There is quality, but it doesn’t feel like there is much separation between many of the goalkeepers. Murphy is the one knocking on the door as the No. 2 in the position rankings. The DKSC standout is quick off her line, athletic, and plays with a chip on her shoulder. The knock on Murphy is that she can be over reliant on the acrobatic save. She will often go for the diving tip when it looks like she might be able to control the shot with both hands. It’s a small thing, and likely an area that will improve as she continues to get more comfortable with the goal. She has shown that she can pull off the big time save at both the club and high school level.
